I'd like to know how to go about doing the A2 tests on my own bike and getting insured for it. Why? well there is a slot for mod 1 on Wednesday (cancellation slot) and is only £15.50 to give it a go, the school charges £220 + wouldn't be able to do it in a cancellation slot. Surely Insurance wouldn't be that much but I don't know of any companies that offer insurance (easier to ask on here).

Middle of October is when there are spaces free for Mod 1 and probably around then for mod 2. I want to ride my bike asap Very Happy

Also they wouldn't check for restrictors would they? When I gave mod 1 a go on my NSR they barely looked at the bike, didn't check tax, MOT or even want to look at my insurance, so long as I signed their shit.

this topic comes round regular .. as yet I`ve not seen a good reply..
the problem always comes down to insurance because the insurance provider requires you have a full licence for said A2 machine ..

Bikesure will cover you on your provisionaL entitlement, but you might get hosed on the price. You've still got the problem of getting to and from the test centre legally without an accompanying instructor.

You need to display L plates front and rear for the duration of the tests.

They won't physically check for restrictors, but...

where your motorcycle has been restricted to comply with the rules, you can use it but you must give certified proof of compliance or restriction. This must be a certificate or on headed paper from an official source (eg a main dealer, official importer or recognised specialist in restricting vehicles). Dyno certificates alone are not allowed.

As to what they actually accept, you'll have to ask your local DVSA Derek since it's entirely up to him,

Thanks, Divy is on the list, I doubt they'd be too fussy on the restriction as it's not on the list of things you Need to bring but still best not to risk it.

I also don't know anyone who could ride me to and from the test station at 10:55 on Thursday.

Maybe I'll have to call an instructor and see if I or they can book in cancellation slots and I cough up the big money in hope I pass without much practise, or I wait a month and a half Pale

Thanks for the insurer though.

Neither is this secret list of required clothing, but it can still result in a refusal to test.

BodyTard Socket should be able to tell you about his (local) experience with doing A2.

You could try a PaddyCerttm, although we've only had reported success with insurers.
