Sooo... just bought a 5 year old Sprint ST so thought I'd get a jacket as well. Want a properly waterproof, warm, winter jacket which won't look too out of place in a pub and will go for a Triumph jacket to go with the bike just cos I can.

Probably around the £400 mark.

What I wanted to know is what Triumph kit is like. Does anyone on here have any experience with wearing Triumph gear and is it waterproof, warm, hard-wearing and does the job?

What's it like?

Triumph use Sympatex in their waterproof gear. Same idea I think?

I've used https://triumphfactoryoutlet.com/ in the past - it has their end of line gear at reduced prices.

Just ordered some gloves actually, but never had waterproofs from them. The leather jackets seem to be very well made though.

I bought Triumph Acton trousers in Nov '12 (from the Triumph outlet store) and I've worn them daily [year-round] ever since (around 2.5 hours of use each working day) - I had them repaired last month (after almost four year's worth of use - the crotch had popped at the seams - £5 repair at the local seamstress and they're fully serviceable again) - overall I rate them very highly.

Water will _always_ find a way in after riding for an hour in heavy rain, so I use a one-piece rain suit on those days. But for general showers they keep me dry.

I recently bought an 'as-new' Triumph set from eBay (Acton2 trousers, jacket, gloves) - it's all very comfy, but I've yet to experience much rain in the jacket.

All of the Triumph gear I've had has been excellent. I had a couple of Cordura jackets of theirs, and they were both waterproof. I had a set of Triumph two piece leathers that I crashed in at Snetterton at about 120mph and I was undamaged, apart from my hands and I wasn't wearing Triumph gloves!

Thanks, very helpful. Have bought some based on BCF advice.

* Update * The wax armoured, Barbour jacket line they have is very waterproof, better than some textiles. Downside is it's hot. Very, very, very hot. Ideal for winter, even with the lining taken out but in September is roasting.

Also, their bikes are outstanding. Just bought a 5 year old ST 1050 today and my God, this thing is awesome. Just amazing. Bought it without even a test ride (I'm trusting like that) and it is stunning.

I had BMW's flagship bike (K1300GT SE), owned blades, Ninjas etc... and in comparison, that Trumpet engine is just beautiful. It's the smoothness and the inexplicable way it delivers it just beautifully plus that handling and touringness. Haven't felt like this about a bike for years. Just amazing.

In fact, what am I doing here? I'm going to jump on the bike to go for another ride for no reason.
