I'm thick, still think crayon is a new fangled invention.

I have windows media player
I have sandisk 16 GB SDHC card.
I can down load music on to crd and the laptop can see it. My MP3 player in my Zumo 400 can't see it.
I used to down load all the time on a 2GB card with my old laptop but not now. What am I doing wrong and what do I need to change?
Keep it VERY VERY VERY simple. I think someone said something about formating, but I haven't a clue. Not a scooby doo of a clue.

Please help as the music still on my card from yesteryear is getting on my tallywagger.

Check if the card is FAT32 or NTFS formatted.

Plug in to puter, right click on the drive, go to properties. Will tell you if it is either of the above. If it is FAT32, simply right click on the drive, select "Format" and change the option to NTFS from the list, hit GO MUTHA FUCKA.

Obviously make sure there's nothing on it when you format or you will lose it.

See if that helps.

Depending on which version of Windows you're using...
Click the <Start> button and select either Computer (Win7) or File Explorer (Win10)

Are you sure about that? Generally speaking for small MP3 players and that kind of electronics you want FAT32 not NTFS as its much easier for the developers to support FAT than NTFS. NTFS is a much more complicated filesystem.

Personally I would
1. Double check the music is backed up
2. start -> my computer -> right click on SD card -> format
on the filesystem box click "FAT32" and then click "start".

https://www.garminworldmaps.com/how-to-install/garmin-card-size/

16gb is too big. I would suggest that 4Gb is the largest card that device supports.

Unless there is later firmware ( old device so doubtful ) i think that's your limit.

Are the files in MP3 or some strange windows format the player doesn't recognise?

Smaller card will fix issue. Too much data for device to manage. I have a camera that will only take 2gb cards
any bigger and after a few pics the camera freezez up.

This might be the issue then as the card I have in that works is 2Gb. Serves me right for being greedy. Off to get a 4Gb and a 2Gb card.

There are some online converters that will change them to mp3. Slow process though.

Most things can play WMA files, so I wouldn't bother converting anything yet.

this
https://www.gps-data-team.com/pda-gps-navigation/viewtopic.php?t=3669&start=30
says you can use up to a 4GB sd card in a 400

I find DBpoweramp useful for batch conversion to mp3
and it's fairly fast
