Hi folks,

Does anyone out there own a Sinnis Retrostar 250cc machine?
If so I would very much like to hear your opinion as an owner/rider.

I saw one close-up for the first time today and was pretty impressed but I was not able to run fast enough to catch the rider to ask him more about the bike Sad

I know I could get more bike for the same £ and I allready have a ZZR600 for more serious road-burning but the Sinnis Retrostar looks like a good bike for running around town on?

And please, only comments from owners of this machine.

You want one, get one. There aren't enough owners or enough miles to tell you more than what's obvious: that they look good new, have just enough powaaaah for urban use, but have suspect parts supply and you won't be able to give away a used one.

Parts team at Sinnis are a nightmare. Consider a Herald. Or find alternative means of getting basic parts for it before you buy. Thumbs Up

^^ I would second that. I looked at the Herlad Classic and the dealers said they were selling like hot cakes (though I've not seen any on the road). These particular dealers only sold chinese bikes, and tended to sell them on the basis that they were popular, rather than them being good bikes for the money.

If I had room, I'd certainly go for the Herald 250. It is what it is, a (probably) reliable engine in a frame with Chinese components. Like any budget bike, it would need TLC to keep the rust at bay, and perhaps some attention to exposed electrics.

i had a look at the heralds, the look ok in photos but i'd like to hear from an actual owner on longevity and if they rust in a week.

Yep. There is a whole 30 more Herald Classics on the road than Retrostars Wink

They last exactly the same as sinnis. They come from the same factory.

Thanks andy675,

I think I will give this some more thought. The parts situation is certainly much better for a main-stream bike so if I decide to go down that route then I may as well look at Honda, Yamaha etc as well.
