Just wondering if anyone has done this before, I'm looking to try and get this done tomorrow. I was originally told it's not possible but the person I spoke with told me to ring back on Monday.

So has anyone managed to get this done before ?

Yes, I've added a bike to my policy mid-term. My broker was Bikesure no problem at all.

I bought my Suzuki GSXR750 and still had the Yam XJ6, MCE had no problem adding it to my existing policy. The renewal was no more that the GSXR would have cost alone.

Devitt wouldn't do it for me, apparently as a newly passed mature student having a cbr600 on the same policy as a 125 was too risky. They still insured both bikes on seperate policies for under £200 though Laughing

Many 125 policies are just that. Designed for Learners and once you get a bigger bike. You have to take out a new policy.

It will vary depending on the company, don't forget we mostly deal with brokers who select what they suppose is best policy from a range of providers.
In some cases to go multibike would require the policy moving to different underwriter in which case expect additional fees above just adding a second bike.

Cheers for the replies, this is just to insure the k100 in my name for a month or two to make sure it's working ok; before I sell the xj600. On a separate policy I'm looking at £300 tp to insure the k100 as it would have no ncb on the policy.

The insurance company I'm with is bennets hopefully they can be persuaded on monday to let me insure the bike.

Except this was a whole new policy from inception, not adding the CBR onto the CG policy

Yes, I did it 18 months ago!
I was 7 or 8 months into the policy of the largest bike, 1000cc, added two smaller bikes. Basically they cancelled all three policies and started a new multi bike policy, there and then.
The new premium, for all three bikes was less than what I'd paid for the thou on it's own.
This was done with Swinton!

It was cheaper for me to get a second policy for the XJ - the quote I was given to make a multibike policy was stupid.

Update I found out that it was possible but it's an extra £600 on to what I'm paying right now. This will be till the end of the policy in may so 6 months.

Ouch.

MCE have done it for me a few times in the past, but it's never more than half the value of the actual policy itself (which is usually about £300).

For my FZ1 policy, it cost me £70 to add on my ZX6R about 4 months in.

Yeah went to a different company £200 for both bikes. Phoned my original company and got a refund of £2.76!! cancelling the insurance. So £197odd for both bikes; reduces down again when I get rid of the xj600.
