Hi guys,

Me again. I might be being really thick here, but I can't seem to locate the brake fluid reservoir for the back brake.
It's a Kawasaki ER5. The rear is a drum. This is the first time I've had a bike with a drum brake and I've looked all over, but I can't seem to find a reservoir to put brake fluid in.
Do drum brakes even have reservoirs? I can't find any mention of one in the service manual relating to the back brake.

Drum brakes on bike tend not to use hydralics, but just a mechanical link from the pedal.

Motorbike ones generally don't, no. The ER5 certainly doesn't.

If you follow from the brake pedal to the drum you should be able to see how it works.

Thanks guys.

I had a feeling that this was the case. But don't trust any conclusion that I reach myself.

Now go and have a look in cmsnl, you say you have a manual?

Before you do anything else to this bike ( or any other ) read, read and read the manual, then read it again.

Don't worry, we all started life with little to no knowledge, other than what god, mother nature and common sense gave/gives us.

I didn't touch the brakes in the end.
The front reservoir was pretty full, so I left it be. Never touched the back. Just wanted to check my fluid levels were okay.
I changed the oil and coolant. But, due to injury, haven't ridden it yet.
