Hi everyone,
I'm in the process of rebuilding my top end and whilst removing the cam followers from my old barrel, I forgot to pay attention to which way they were installed. I can see that the two separate followers can only be put together one way, so that the cups for the pushrods are aligned, but as a pair they can be flipped 180 degrees. There are no obvious marks to indicate which way they should go.

Does it matter which way they go in? If I put them in the opposite way, would there be any noticeable change to valve lift or clearances?
I can't find any information about them on the internet, and Haynes almost completely omits them from the engine section. Judging by this I assume that it doesn't make any difference or I'm sure Haynes would mention it, or someone would've done it by now and posted a question on a forum asking why their bike is running crap.
I'm hoping that someone can confirm it's okay to install either way, just as long as the pushrod cups are in a straight line. |
