Back in the days of 33bhp, when riding my ZX6R I was stopped by a bike cop who reckoned it was the biggest bike I could ride until I was 21. Whistle

I'm sure him stopping me was nothing to do with it being about a mile away from where the previous owner lived. Laughing

I'd be much less confident about doing such things now as the police seem to have at least half a clue about the bike licensing regime.

And if so have you been caught? or at least asked about your bike restriction by police?

I only ask because a close friend of mine with an A2 license has had an unrestricted bike for a while now and haven't even been looked at twice.

Just wondered if anyone has ran into any problems with this?

I think the chances of being caught are unlikely, as few coppers are going to put your bike on a dyno. If involved in a serious accident, I think that's a very different matter and might be investigated. Bear in mind that some of these restrictors are very badly made and can sometimes just fall off without you noticing...

Doing a dyno must cost a lot of time and money, when the police are making redundancies and big cuts already

Ah, didn't like the answers he got first time around so asking again.

OP do it if you want, let us know if the police know what they're looking for. You know the risks, roll the dice if you're feeling lucky.

One thing I would say is that from memory those who've been caught unrestricted have admitted it to plod. If you act as if you're allowed to be riding the bike and so you've got nothing to be nervous about when speaking to PC Plod then you've got a better chance of getting away with it than if you're a nervous wreck who might as well have GUILTY tattooed on their forehead.

Where as you creating dupe threads for no fucking reason is not appreciated.

Why bother?
You're only gonna get the same fucking info that was posted in your other thread.

So be confident to avoid them suspecting you? makes sense really

The other thread was about if you think it's worth the risk, this one is about if you've been caught or have been asked by police

Why waste time shooting posts down that apparently don't interest you anyway?

Why ask twice?

Why pretend "friend"?

Why still breathing?

Maybe you should go back and read the replies in that thread, or even the question you asked in the first post.

They don't need to have amazing detective skillz to spot someone who has guilty written all over their face.

Being confident is far from being a get out of jail free card but it's a step in the right direction. (being confident doesn't mean being cocky)

If you've got the right answers on the tip of your tongue then that will also work in your favour. They ask you something about who you're insured with and if you start ummm'ing and arrrr'ing whilst thinking up a cock'n'bull story then they'll want to dig deeper.

It's questionable as to if you should carry your license with you when it's got a restriction code on it. If you haven't got it with you then you're not going to be standing there shitting yourself and hoping that they don't notice the restriction on your license.

I know of some who rode a GSXR 600 K3 on an A2 for like 6 months before doing their full A. Said person got pulled over three times and flashed by a camera once. One speed awareness course & careless driving course completed with no questions asked about being on an A2 and riding a GSXR. Before the GSXR they rode a Bandit 600 unrestricted, pulled over a few times and nothing came of it.

I also know of three others riding either bikes unrestricted or not A2 compatible bikes, no issues for two of them. One of them got caught and is being done for not riding in accordance to his license along with speeding & for having a letterbox number plate too.

So in my experience you have a slim chance of being caught, but it's possible to get screwed over.

All my bikes are or were un-restricted and all of them were used to ride illegally by me the owner and rider.

I have been ticketed for two offences.

I bet you that's not the answer you were looking for.

Re-phrase your question/tittle.
