Hadrian's Wall was built nearly 1000 years after the founding of Rome. During that 1000 years, the Roman population, its servants, slaves and traders from all over the then known world would have been shagging and would have produced a variety of different coloured babies, some of whom as adults will have found themselves building a wall in a grim, rainy outpost to mark the extent of the empire.

The chances of the builders being a single ethnic group are negligible.
