That really gets my goat. In the UK since 1970 we have had the following:

the Employment Equality (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2003
the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006
the Equality Act 2006, Part 2
the Equality Act (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2007
the Equality Act 2010

Prior to 1970 it was legally permissible to discriminate against all sorts of people, non-whites included. Now it is against the law. This is progress achieved via our modern, progressive democracy. As times go on people's attitudes will catch up with the legislation and there will be even less discrimination.

Of course there are examples of racism still in our society and there probably always will be, but to say that we are anything like the US is ridiculous. These people need to learn a little modern history before pontificating and trying to make the rest of us feel guilty...
