Hi all, checked my coolant levels which are extremely low. Went to halfords and didn't realise there's 3 types. I have a varadero xl125v7 and was wondering if anyone knew what to put in.

I know it's a ethylene glycol based on but as I say there's three. The people at halfords were no good. It's either down to their system or bad staff but they couldn't find my bikes details. Also my reservoir tank is empty so I can't see the colour.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Who serviced it last, they should know whats in there, they checked the "strength" ??

When cold, if it has a radiator cap, take that off and see what colour??

Maybe its time to drain, flush and refill with the proper antifreeze/corrosion inhibitor, check your bike's book or manual.

someone must have one of these bikes and make a reccomendation?

mixture must be alloy compatable.....not to mention any rubber/plastics involved...

Mixing different colours is best avoided, but the stuff in there is probably blue - so buy some blue, drain it, hope it's blue, refill with the new stuff.

You could run it with just water for a few days over summer. It isn't going to freeze, and you won't cause any damage. That happens when you run it without corrosion inhibitors (or anti freeze) for a long time.

Sorry for late reply. So I think I may drain it out one morning replace it with just water, ride to town and buy some antifreeze of the correct colour. Then refrain it apon return and replace. Does that sound like an OK plan or is there a major mechanical wrong in what I'm doing!

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Don't be daft, it's a global warming affected September. Expecting 30 degrees Celsius tomorrow. Do you want him to pop a core plug?
