Quote:
He may have been nicknamed ‘Captain Slow’ by his fellow presenters on Top Gear, but James May could be in need of a new moniker after he was caught for speeding in London.

The former Top Gear presenter was caught just moments after purchasing a new motorbike in the capital, and admitted that his conviction was a “bit shameful, really”.

“It’s a fair cop,” he told his 2.72 million followers on Twitter as he posted a map of where he was caught and where he bought the motorbike. “I’ll come quietly.”

“I was caught this time. That stretch of road used to be 40 [miles per hour], but they recently brought it down to 30,” he told the Daily Mail

another report shows this bike and said he bought a 600 RR

Most Farces offer kitten kourses for 35 - 42 in a 30, but the Met are special and don't appear to disclose their criteria.

I'm surprised that he went for an RR (post-mid-life crisis?) but least he got one in Boring Blue and is wearing a chin-grinder lid.

An ordinary 90's Fireblade? I thought he had something a bit more sophisticated, steam powered perhaps. Thinking

I suspect it's just a stock photo of James May on a motorbike - rather than the specific bike he was caught on.

ET54YFC is currently insured, MOTd and taxed, if that's significant.

Wow, 2 litre diesel, 196 g/km of plantfood. We sure have got good at fiddling emissions figures since then.

The bonnet lock is under the badge. You rotate it out of the way, key in, unlock. It avoids problems with remote release cables snapping.

If that photo is him now, I doubt he "just bought it" from a dealer in central Lunnun!!

Nice bike though, even if it is the blue version!

According to his tweet he bought whatever-it-is at Chiswick Honda and got done on the 406 on his way up to Ealing.

Earlier tweet also appeared to show him booking his 4-hour lecture.

What is it 60 quid and 3 points? Not a bad price for a bit of extra publicity...

£100+ and 3 points+, but he's taking a Kitten Kourse instead. What's his daily rate?

How cool would that be though to turn up to do your kitten course and find that James May was on it!

You and I have different ideas about what cool is.

May be. But if I had to sit through one of those courses, I think I'd rather be there with an ex-Top Gear presenter than just a room full of ordinary people. Would reduce the opportunity for mates to take the piss out of you for doing it I should think. OK would probably be better if it was Clarkson or Hammond that can actually drive fast...

I want to know if he did the compulsory "I wonder how fast this goes" test on the way home before or after his slap on the wrist.

As entertaining as Clarkson's, I think May's the only one (of the three) I could stand to be in a room with for 4 hours.

He has my sympathies, those courses are f**king torture.

I honestly don't know if I could make it through one without flipping out and killing the whole room.

Potentially a bit close to a TT99.

He's been around Clarkson too long so would need to have a script and as many takes as possible to make it look natural.

Turns out W Chump and sons (Clarkson/Hammond/May/Wilman's company) has its office on the same estate as Chiswick Honda. Methinks this 'just bought the bike' story may be an exaggeration.
