Whenever i park my bike in town (normally less than an hour if i can help it), i always get that 'is it still there' feeling when i am walking back.

Currently i only use the steering lock, so was wondering if these devices are any good as i can store this under my seat quite comfortably....

As good as a disc lock really

Will stop someone just pushing bike away but not stop it being chucked in a van

A steering lock is marginally better than nothing, this is marginally better than that, but not as good as a disc lock since Pikey McScrote could just cut the brake line or cut or unbolt the lever - he only needs one brake. None of them are going to bother anyone coming equipped with a grinder.

Easier to fit than a disc lock though, and no chance of an accidental ride-away. Probably about as likely to send a casual eye onto the next bike in line.

How much are they? £15 or so? Eh, I might get one in the spring, after Muffs Off.

Yes that's what i was thinking, regarding the disclock.

I very rarely go out leaving the bike unattended, but it is nice to have some peace of mind than none at all when i do. Thumbs Up

Eh, he doesn't need any brake to make it down the road.

I reckon you could make it across the country with engine braking on the bikes I've owned. Wouldn't be particularly safe, but neither would it be suicidal if you kept decent stopping distances.

At home, I'm all about the security.

In town, eh. Imagine that you're leaving a plastic box with a gold bar inside it locked to a lamppost. That is basically what a nice bike is.

Basically the entire reason I don't have a nice bike is because I know it will probably be stolen and then I will be sad. It sucks, but there you go. It can wait until I can actually afford it.

On a cut locks and run, the bike won't get started, it'll just get pushed freewheel by scrotes on scooters.

Have a Virtual +1 Informative, I've just firehosed the last of my daily ratings into BodySocket's epic fail thread.
