Hello all, i did about 500 miles at the weekend on my 01 CBR600F (second bike) and i was in pain every 100 miles or so.

I know its a sports bike and isn't supposed to be comfortable. I can put up with knee, back and wrist ache (the normal) but my ass really hurts after 100 miles or so.

Is there any way besides getting a new bike or losing weight (only 11st) that i can make the seat more like soft/padded?

Thanks

Recover it yourself with extra foam/gel inserts or send it to somewhere like https://edblade.simpl.com/ to have them do it.

Wouldn't call the CBR600 a full on sportsbike riding position, but then again you may have short arms. Razz

Try some cycling shorts, possibly costs the same as saddle inserts but less installation time.

Whatever you do it's worth double checking the hand controls and footpegs are in the best position for you. Minor adjustments can make a noticeable difference over a long day's ride.

The above advice is sound, it's amazing how moving other parts of your body around can affect how your arse sits on something, but it does. I found that placing the balls of my feet/base of my toes on the pegs takes all the ache out of my wrists and behind. It pushes me more over the tank and makes keeping my arms parallel with the road more natural, and rolls my pelvis forward so I'm sat more on the bit where my ass meets my legs/gooch. Sounds explicit, works a treat. It also makes handling the bike at speed a lot easier (for me at least).

Ride a bicycle and toughen up your ass while losing weight. Motorbike seats are heaven compared to a road bike saddle after spending all day on one.

Eat more, get a fatter arse. More padding.
Transfer more weight through the pegs, this will build muscle in your legs too, but beware as Purple Aki may take an unhealthy interest in you.

Move your weight around through the bends.
Move around regularly on the straights.

I have an f4 and the seat isn't that comfy but I've resolved to modify the seat only after trying all of the above.

The cheap answer is from another ungulate: sheepskin works a treat, if you value performance over appearance.
