This news made me think really.

At first I thought what a low ethic worker he was.

But reading dailymail comments, lots of people were saying he did a right thing for obeying law, and for safety reason, and I came to agree with these opinions.
So its company's mistake which didn't prepare alternate driver.

-I wonder what caused this (delayed(?)).
-"How important it is to obey the law strictly"
vs "effort being made to minimize inconveniences of passengers / disruption of transportation "

In my opinion, driver and central command of train company should have made best effort to minimize the loss contacting together while trying to minimize working overtime.

There might be some passenger who had to arrive in time for very important reason.

Can this happen in UK too?
I've never heard of this here in Japan.

Seriously....

A thread about someone following the rules?

I'm gonna make a "nodding" thread, at least that will be more entertaining.

Sorry this may be boring thread.
I wondered this is normal in UK too.

Truck, train, and taxi drivers all have a limited amount of hours they can legally drive.

Pilots do too, even in japan.

they are very rarely in control of the aircraft while flying, autopilot and 40 winks innit.

When taking off and landing they are in control.

They work shifts, two crews in the same plane. Long haul planes have a sleep space for pilots and cabin crew.

They can but that tends to be the first stage of something called a crash

All the best

Occasionally there are announcements on trains saying that the train is terminating early at XYZ and not calling at any stations beyond that point. That could quite easily be because the driver doesn't have enough driving hours to go any further.

The Spanish rail company and the driver were well aware before the train set off that he didn't have enough driving hours, that bit not being communicated to passengers is the problem, the driving running of hours isn't anyones fault.

When did you get your pilots license mate Laughing

Guessing that even that is probably controlled as well and they're there to assist if shit goes down.

I can't believe they think that's cramped, I've lived in living quarters with less space.

So do bus and coach drivers. Although in slightly different ways.
