Its car insurance renewal time, simple enough.

I have at least 13yrs NCB, I technically have more but the 13 is based on what I can produce evidence for i.e. old certs etc.

Anyway Hastings have sent my renewal which is my "proof of NCB", but it says "number of years NCB : maximum years"

I have a better price from another company and they can't price match, if the new company request proof of NCB and I've declared 13yrs but can only produce "maximum" where will I stand.

Anyone had this before?

In the past 5-10 years I've rarely been asked for proof of ncb, last time was the bike but it had a number on so was straight forward.

Wow, that's a new one.

The cartel seems to have decided to cap it at 9 years. I'd be aiming for that.

Need to call the new company tonight to take the policy out (or just buy online and worry about it later)

Just wondered if anyone had had similar.

Honestly can't remember the last time they asked for proof for the car.

I'll update following purchase tonight.

Just checked Direct Line (new company) and the max NCB you can enter is "9 or more years" so I think I might be ok.

Nothing new. Scale tops out around 7 anyway for just about every insurer. The real reason, if we're honest, is that broker system can't cope with 2 digits and that's an expensive fix, but since it makes no odds.

Paid online earlier, so far no requests but also no docs via email, will wait for Postman Pat to deliver something and post back.

(Payment screen did say they may get proof automatically)
