I've been searching through as many posts on this subject but I'm still undecided which to go for.

Not really read much about Oxford ultra clear. Although it's not as universal as advertised because it can be too large an insert for some visors.

Pin lock seems the best way forward.

Fog city has had some terrible write ups for being flimsy, hard to fit and non removable without damaging the visor.

I've used pinlock and fogcity.

Both are good anti-fog solutions, but pinlock is starting to annoy me.
It puts strain on my visor, so makes it more difficult to push the visor open. As a result, this bends the pinlock inwards making it out of shape.

I'm going back to fog city for that reason.
Also fog city doesn't need post adjusting etc.

Bluecb,

That's an interesting point you've raised that I wouldn't have occurred to me.

Thanks,

Mark

I used a Fog City and got good results. I cleaned the visor like for a surgical procedure though, and not of one those NHS quota fillers, a decent private operation.

I'm currently on a yellow Pinlock, it's also working fine. It has the big advantage of being removable, it's not a one-chance deal to fit it right. It's not causing me any problems with the visor (Nitro flip front).

On balance, I'd go for Pinlock in future just based on the swap potential. If we ever get a summer again, a tinted insert would be nice.

I've used Fog City in the past on a non-pinlock helmet and it worked brilliantly. Care taken in fitting it is essential.

Pinlock is also excellent.

Either works, but if your helmet has the pinlock posts, you may as well use that

I did this and swapped pinlocks, but you have to keep the pinlock you're not using in a hermetically sealed chamber to prevent damage, you cant just stuff it in a bag. Now I've got 2 clear pinlocks, and 1 clear and 1 tinted visor. The one I'm not using goes in a Oxford visorprotectificationizer (bag thing) to stop scratches, and as the visor itself is pretty tough i can stuff it in a bag without worrying about it getting crumpled/warped/stretched/otherwise nefariously interfered with.

I recently got myself a pinlock insert that reacts to sunlight. Admittedly it was £55 , but it is just what I need for when the sun decides it wants to troll my vision when it bounces off the rear screens of cars, or gets low in the sky, or the glare from a wet road.

Also, it returns back to clear when not in direct sunlight, so no danger of being pulled over when riding home from a good day out in the sun with a dark visor.

It's an official pinlock insert, called "protecTINT".

Worth having if you find the sun annoying Thumbs Up

Yeah I've seen those reactive inserts, though it could be a good idea, but it's just a tint after all so won't do anything my drop down visor does.

Can anyone with a pinlock tell me if it comes with the fixing gromitts? I vaguely remember reading they are supposed to come with the helmet, but I never got any in the box.

Thanks for your help.

Mine came with 3. The visor already had them though, so I could probably post them to any needy parties, if I can find them... and can be bothered looking.

Well I've placed an order for a pinlock so I'm hopping I get some with the insert but they are not listed as "what's in the box". So to speak. I may have to take you up on the offer if you find them. Thumbs Up

On a plus note. I paid my mum a surprise visit tonight and we were discussing the bike and test changes comming in January, so with Christmas on its way my mum gave me the money for a one shot deal at the theory, mod 1, mod 2. Very Happy
