Why is it? How long is 1000 subscribers going to take, and what does it actually give you? Just having 1000 subscribers doesn't mean the cash starts rolling in, far from it. Unless you're getting 10's of thousands of views, and monetise your videos, you'll see nothing.

Surely if he's planning on getting money, for whatever reason, how about organising a memorial ride and having a collection or something?

Just because something wasn't deliberate doesn't mean that nobody was at fault.
