Your thoughts on charity idea.

My thoughts, you're trying to start a not for profit business in a relatively small and crowded fashion retail sector. I'd guess the chances of breaking even before the lenders crapped out on you would be fairly slim.

You're not fooling anyone with the spurious charity angle.

What you're really hoping for is your own (superfluous) clothing line, you and your mates drawing huge salaries and getting a nice living out of it.

Incidentally you're attempting to enter a saturated market, where price, branding and safety performance are (equally) the incentives to buy. A purchaser is not going to buy based on an unknown label who happens to give some leftover money (after paying the staff and execs) to charity.

However, there's nothing wrong with ambition on its own, entrepreneurship is to be encouraged. What is wrong though is pretending you're doing it out of altruism.

Charity scam angle aside, do you really believe that £9k is enough to launch an entire clothing range? Production of minimum order quantities, shipping, storage, etc. Not even a drop in the ocean.

Give your mum her £5 back that she donated, close the page and stop trying to con the gullible into funding your next 2 week all inclusive in the Caribbean.

A little judgemental pehaps, I didnt realise a CV of all previous charity work was going to be required, but if thats how its perceieved then its fair I guess.

We're simplying looking for ways of biking charities to become more sustainable.

I think maybe some of you have greater vision than me, we arent looking to become the next Aplinestars, no huge salaries, as Andy said, breaking even may be an achievement if its unsuccessful.

Why should I spend £50 on some crap bit of biking gear of which £2 goes to the charity? Why don't I give direct to the charity instead and buy the gear I want?

Is there a charity for drivers of the Robin Reliant?
Why not? They drive inherently unstable vehicles too.

What's that charity called that gives motorcycles and trains Africans to deliver health services in remote places.....Riders for Health..Now cannot be contacted, cannot find annual report.

That's was supposedly a worthwhile charity.

I've worked for a charity Action Aid. The premises were also a B&B. The owner of which claimed for heating and other sundries...The charity was paying towards the business.

I saw a tramp with his scraggy dog in Manchester with a sign saying 'Homeless and Hungry' I bought a Margarita Pizza and offered it to him. He turned it down and pointed to his plastic cup of change.
I walked away.

My charity donations are mainly to people I personally know that sometimes fall on hard times.
But I'm not totally uncharitable....During a long tailback through a village on a raging hot summer's day I bought a box of ice-pops and handed them out to queuing motorists.
