Has anyone had either or even both? and can advise on which is a better all rounder tyre.

I am using Pilot 4's but have about 500 miles left which is probably only around 2 weeks for me, The Pilot 4 has served me extermely well and has lasted longer than my previous choice the Battlax.

The Pilot 4 is amazing in wet weather and i feel safe leaning in with them i've used pretty much all the width of my tyres. But i hear the Angel Gt is just as good if not better.

If you have another all-rounder tyre you would recommend that's good in wet weather please let me know.
Budget isn't really an issue as my safety is priceless to me.

Anyway...PR4 is loved on this forum. I've tried other ST tyres and they're all good.

Not tried the Angel but you can sue me if it is a bad tyre.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I had pirelli angel ST. I don't know how similar the GT is to the ST (I thought the GT was the fat chick version of the ST?) but I don't rate the ST highly. Wears fast, not as good in the wet as the PR and the gay angel pattern was horrendous.

The GT is a great tyre I've had a set on my SV since Nov last year and commute all year round along with some good spirited blasts and at no point even in some horrendous weather have I felt that the tyres have let me down.

I've done the best part of 10k in that time and it looks like the rear will be lasting me almost exactly a year.

Why change? If you're happy just stick with the PR4.

That's MCN's verdict, although the Pirelli was not in the test because Pirelli own Metzeler.

If you are happy with the PR4 then stick with them, my own experience with them was one of abnormal front tyre wear and iffy cornering feel because of it.

Can't make any meaningful comparison to the angels, but I can say riding home tonight in the wet and dark on PR4's was one of those moments when you realise why a lot of people recommend them for their wet weather surefootedness.

The Avon Storm 2 ultras I'd swapped them for just didn't feel as comforting in the wet. They rear had squared off a bit but still well within the legal limits. They were still adequate in the dry.

PR4 feels quicker steering but that should always be the case on new tyres compared to a less rounded profile of the older set.

Death Sliders I call them. Got them on the ZX12, makes things kinda interesting.

Yes PR4s get some love around here but PR3s are regarded by the majority as a better tyre.

For what it's worth I have the Pirelli GT's currently, and can't fault them.
Would buy again.

One thing often missed is oil resistance. How well a tire will grip with oily roads or chain oil. I find Pilot road 2/3/4's are by far the best at this. Pirelli diablo's are terrible. Supercorsas and racetecs are ok.

My chain has a couple of stiff links so recently been saturating it with oil, enough that it is still dripping off and running down the swingarm after 40 miles. Yesterday also had some rain. At no point did the pr4 spin up, though it did occasionally feel odd moving around (as if it were flat).

Id recommend racetec/supercorsa front with a PR4 rear Thumbs Up though I might change my mind about the front in winter, but they are excellent in the wet.

I replaced PR4's with Roadtec 01's. The PR4's are quicker steering. Even after 12k miles they were quicker than the 01's.
The 01's are comfier than the 4's though and mega grippy in the dry, if less communicative. Can't comment on wet.

Folk say the PR4 is better in the wet and lasts longer than the PR3, but the PR3 is better in the dry than the 4.

I found the 4's brilliant in the dry and scary good in the wet. They wore pretty evenly and 12k with 3 stanta pod visits wasnt bad, probably another 1.5k left in them but replaced them anyway. Am only putting 100bhp +50lb through them though.
