Hello,

Bought my Bandit 650 K5 yesterday. Dying to get out on it but need to pass my test first! I thought if I don't buy a bike first I will never get round to taking my tests.

Totally wrong way around but hey, if it gets you there Laughing

Are you planning to do tests before winter sets in proper?

I hope you're getting in some good preparation by sitting on it in the garage and making engine noises with your mouth.

I know someone who did that - bought a TT600 then started out to do his tests with the bike as a target. Failed his MOD1 (steamed up visor and couldn't see what he was doing), got a scare with his instructor riding too fast on the way back to their place, then work got in the way and he didn't retake.

After that he sat on it in the garage and revved it, then ended up selling it when they were moving house.

Anyway, don't let that put you off - have you got your tests lined up?

Good stuff, training and test centres should be quietening down now.

How did you enjoy your CBT?

I know a few people who bought their bikes before they did their tests. They all now regret it and have sold said bikes.

How do you know what the bike feels like to ride if you can't test it on the roads first?

my mate bought a kawazaki zx6r

sat in his garage for a year and sold it for less then he bought it for as he couldn't pass theory test (hazard perception part) even though he drives a heavy goods vehicle for a living moving massive stuff about

he has now bought a classic 125 and that is sat doing the same as he hasn't got round to doing a cbt yet

How many people change their bikes in short order in the first year anyway once they have some experience? The bandit is probably a good choice to do this with; pretty middle of the road in all respects so will give OP a baseline to choose the next bike against once he decides what he likes/didn't like. Far better than getting a full-on sports bike or a cruiser.

Or there's me who did exactly this with a brand new Honda cbr650, did my DAS two months later and have loved every minute since. I brought when I did to take advantage of the summer sale. Just wanted to give you something positive OP in amongst all the usual you're an idiot, you'll hate it, you'll die in a ball of fire comments.

Any numbskull who cannot pass the hazard perception is a hazard themselves.

Wala, I got the hidden answer correct!

See, that's the difference between Cronik and you fellas.

I used to make engine sounds whilst cycling. I took this as a sign I wanted a motorbike Smile
