When I had issues with my desktop keyboard, all it took to make it work again was a proper cleaning. For some reason and due to desing of they keys of my keyboard, dust collects under the keys A, S, Q, W. It's a membrane keyboard, so the moment there's enough dust and dirt, those keys stop working.

Now, by any chance, did you spill something on it? Thinking

Load device manager and see what's what. Any updates installed recently that could have effected it? Update the drivers or uninstall all current ones and restart laptop.

Take it apart and have a look. Laptops are fiddly but I did mine by watching the steps on youtube and all that was required was a few screwdrivers. Taking the ribbon out of its connector and plugging it back in may help. Could inspect for damage or wear and tear on the ribbon while you're at it.

On screen keyboard or external one as a temporary fix.

Might help might not. Just where I'd start.

When my laptop keyboard started getting intermittant, it turned out to be a loose ribbon cable.

Most laptops will have a youtube video showing how to get at it. The one on my little EeePC was a 30 second job.

Before you do anything get into the bios. I've had an issue where it was a driver problem rather than a hardware.

If the keyboard works in the bios it's a windows problem.
