Basically i caught my front right wing on a Toyota hilux which had one of those lift things the electricity companies use. caved my front wing in and the hilux had no damage apart from some of my paint on it. Since there was no damage and only paint left on the car, will they take it up with insurance?

The bit I've highlighted?

The driver might not be too bother but the company he works for might want it checking out to ensure it's all still straight

I agree, however it isn't so simple. Both me and pickup indicating right at a mini roundabout ,however i assumed he was going right but he decided to go all the way around, this couldnt be done in 1 manoeuvre so he stopped to do a few point turn on a mini roundabout , when he stopped i hit him.

You're familiar with the personal injury industry right? Laughing

If there was genuinely no damage to the other party then you're probably ok. The company I work for don't pursue claims for the fun of it, someone has to be paid to deal with all that shit.

I think there's actually a rule about not going all the way around a mini-roundabout, so if a claim turns up you might have some sort of defence.

I cannot comment on your lack of understanding of physical reality, geometry etc.

I guess it will probably be alright, give him a few pictures of the queen's face, but not too many, that's probably the approach.

That looks like a well nice place to live though. Very leafy.

If the guy couldn't make it in one then that also brings into play:
Rule 200
Choose an appropriate place to manoeuvre. If you need to turn your vehicle around, wait until you find a safe place. Try not to reverse or turn round in a busy road; find a quiet side road or drive round a block of side streets.

I doubt a mini-roundabout counts as a safe place.

Given looking at the google map. It was the widest area to make a turn. Thus making it the safest area due to the length of said turning vehicle.

Insurance companies are cunts and they will definitely call him several times asking if he definitely seriously really did not get any injury, and advise him to definitely seriously go to A&E just in case, and if there's any neck pain report it immediately. etc etc.

Why do I think this?

Several years ago I slid into the back of someone on a massive chunk of black ice, also at about 5mph. My car drifted sideways so a side panel hit the bumper of the car in front and crumpled inwards. My car was written off. His bumper mildly cracked.

The bloke and his missus were totally fine, we swapped insurance details and I drove my mortally wounded car home.

A few weeks later I got a letter telling me I was being sued for gross negligence, driving without due care, hazardous driving, etc etc etc, causing grievous harm to this bloke.

A few weeks later I got the exact same letter, this time on behalf of his wife. (Funny how her exact same injury took a few weeks longer to manifest itself...)

In non-legal speak it was basically a whiplash claim and I'm fairly sure his insurance company will have been the ones who gently prodded them to do it.

In they end they got just short of ten grand compensation.

For reference, my car vs theirs:
