BCF,

Am I going to get conned if I accept a Paypal payment for something I sell over Gumtree?

Cheers

I just bought and paid for some Alpinestars gloves on Gumtree, seller was happy to take payment (sadly the gloves are too big)

I would say, if you're planning on mailing it out, get proof of postage (2nd class recorded is the cheapest), that way if they start a PayPal dispute to say it hasn't turned up, you can at least prove it

Paypal for goods or services, easy to get conned (as a seller).

Paypal as gift (friends & family), not so easy but still possible (card charge-back).

Bank transfer is best option.

Keep it simple with Gumtree - Cash is king.

I can't handle the idiots that are contacting me on Gumtree, I can feel my brain cells dying with every message. Thanks all.

Gumtree, the only thing worse than Gumtree for sales (although I do still use it) are Facebook groups. That takes stupid to a whole new level!

Selling stuff on local bookface groups is nice and easy. Anyone asking a stupid question gets blocked. Anyone asking what's the lowest price I'd take gets blocked. etc etc etc

I don't care that people asking stupid questions might have then gone on to buy it, if you're stupid and are going to ask questions that could be answered by reading the description then I'm not going to sell to you. Group rules saying first to comment gets first refusal don't matter, it's up to me who I sell to.

For a quick and straightforward sale, you just need an accurate description (people want to know what's not right, they're not interested in a copy and pasted description) with lots of high res photos and a realistic price. Thumbs Up
