I just thought I'd give a little bit of insight into Arai customer service, when I visited the NEC Motorcycle Live show this weekend.

I'd booked the show in advance, and saw that Arai were displaying there with all their new models and offering a free service for Arai helmets. I booked my (2 year old) Chaser V online with them and was told to just turn up on the day.

I brought it to them when I arrived at the show, they asked if I had any issues with the helmet, and off-handedly mentioned sometimes the chin vent whistles slightly if I tilt my head down at an angle (almost as if looking at the tank), they said they'd take a look. This wasn't a huge issue to me but thought I'd say as I had the chance.

Went off to look at some other shiny bits around the place and got a text about 15 mins later to tell me my helmet was ready to pick up.

Went back to the stand, they had cleaned my entire helmet up (including all the dust in the air ducts), and told me they'd replaced the chin vent as it seemed slightly open when pushed close (causing air to whistle). Having tried it this morning, they've certainly sorted it!

No cost at all Thumbs Up

So I was very happy Mr. Green

Pic for illustration purpose, same helmet as mine:

I didn't take photos of their stand (oops) but here's a few from their page.

Point of this thread was just to explain my experience with Arai customer service with a 2 year old helmet that didn't even have too much of a serious issue - not knocking the build quality at all. I love my Arai, such a comfy fit, and nice knowing they'll take care of you!

p.s Helmet was actually purchased off eBay too, if anyone cares...

Arai fit me lovely. Expensive, but worth it.
I have a cheapish shark flip and that thing is loud and windy, handy for the flip sunvisor in these times of a low sun, but otherwise god awful.
It's not until you have a decent helmet that you realise how bad some are.
Nice to know they do stuff like that at shows, certainly a reason to keep buying the brand.

Hardly Laughing

Should have mentioned in my original post it only begun to do that in the past month or so after 2 seasons of use through Winters, including France trip, Go-Karting usage, Santa Pod racedays and a trackday - not out of the box.

TL:DR - Arai helmets start to fall apart after two years.

A slight whistle from the most prominent vent to road crap, when held at an obscure riding angle, is not 'falling apart'.

The fact they replaced the vent at no cost is the better part of this story.

I've seen threads on here of Shark helmets snapping their visors after a few months of use, with no recourse from the manufacturer. That is what I am trying to get at; the fact they want customer satisfaction.

Does anywhere still check helmets for damage? I've dropped mine, headbutted stuff etc. Smile

Apparently if you send the helmet to Arai they will X-ray it for you with the results of any damages that can be seen.

Dammit - I thought I'd at least have another five posts left in this.

Where do you get your service done if you can't get to a motorcycle show?

I touched Doovy's helmet! They did a really good job replacing the chin vent FOC! Usually it's a 30 quid item for that part!

I had my RX-GP serviced by Ducati Aylesbury when the did an open day. I crashed the bike and scuffed the helmet 3 weeks later at Donington

I sold my RX-GP because it never got used much. I wish I hadn't now.
Think I got about £120 for it on Ebay, it was mint too, only used it about 3 times.
