A friend of mine has a H-D Sportster which is weeping from the rear left hand corner of the rear pot. the cover looks to be held on by just 4 x M6 (or similar) sized Allen bolts, but is there more to it ? Not much sign of a gasket either so is it just some hylomar needed or a paper gasket..

I was surprise to see just 4 fixings on what is a fairly hefty lump of alloy.

Any advise gratefully received.

Cheers

The 4 fixings are just to align it, gravitational attraction keeps it in place.....

I would check the gasket and any breather/ pressure that could effect it.

The oil is escaping because it's ashamed to be in a Harley.

They have a two part rocker cover. The upper cover is just held on by four small bolts and has a small rubber gasket, the lower is held on by more bolts and has a proper gasket.

Thanks chaps for all the feedback. Believe it or not the owner is a 5' 2"
sixty-ish year old lady. So not your usual Harley poseur Smile .

I spotted the unusual two part construction and I think (hope) it's just the top joint leaking.

Presumably the four allen bolts on the top are some imperial or AF size.
