You mean "you're going" ...

nah. Don't worry about it. I only picked up on it because it reminded me of the Gardening Van. Typos on forum posts and typos on expensive sign-writing aren't quite the same thing.

PS ... it should have been "When the bike's here on Saturday" Wink

Anyway, how did we get here from talking about my (soon to be) RS50.

Topbox fitting? It's not got one, and bogging screw? I searched that up and is that where it changes the idle speed and fuel/air mixture? Where would i find the bogging screw?

You have listed Fairings, but I would check for crash damage in general.

It is just the type of bike that will get dropped, especially as they are often ridden by 16 year olds.

Found two websites; with both put together it tells me all the information on the bike for free. Found this a while back when I was looking at other bikes.

Well, yeah, crash damage in general would be fairings, handle bar ends scrapped, foot pegs etc. But yeah will check on that in detail.

OP seems quite resilient; they've had their gramma attacked, Nobcat has been thrown at them and even a bogging screw has been mentioned... Yet still he comes!

I like the RS50, kind of like a more modern version of the AR50 I lusted after when I was a yoof. OP, if you want to make some money out of it you're going to struggle. Best way to do that is punt it for £500 immediately. Sucks if your friend is an actual friend, but the alternative will cost you at least as much as what you'd make back, probably more. You could strip and rebuild it, learn from the experience and have some fun along the way but from your posts I doubt you'd be interested in that path.

Welcome to the forum though, and don't forget to drop a power band in it!

Hehe, all fun here. Nothing personal.

I'd love to strip and rebuild it, I've always been quiet a mechanic, fixed a couple cars and I like my mountain bikes so maintaining them is always fun.

I've just actually paid attention and seen your rating, so you're not a noob-ish.

My humblest apologies good sir!

No problemo. Still would have to learn a lot in order to do a rebuild. But we all start somewhere.

Just a tip: probably don't be tempted to weld your sprocket. It won't end well.

Why on Earth would you do that? Well some people are stupid enough to think that it's a good idea. Laughing

I'm nowhere near that stupid. Bought a cover and a temporary chain 12mm 1.8m, Just for now did have an Almax Series 4 chain with squire lock but refunded it as I thought I weren't going to buy a motorbike anytime soon. Will buy an Almax soon though. Just been counting down the days till I actually come to buy/see it.

Righty'o bit of an update, bike is coming tomorrow (can't wait) and he said it has a little problem with the battery (which he fit 2 weeks ago as the old one was doing it too), as it doesn't start up electrically but kickstarts all the time. Searched it up and it seems that it could be that the battery's not charging up properly because of the alternator or reg/rec. But could also be because he only takes his bike out sometimes and if he does it's only a short ride. Don't think should be too much of a problem to sort that out, tell me what you think.

Many years back I bought a DT50 (my first bike) and some idiot had welded the sprocket. Not only that it was the wrong size as it had an extra tooth.

I ended up grinding the welds off, and then stripping the gearbox to fit a new shaft.

If I could have caught whoever had done it they would have got a kick in the bollocks.

Oh my. Maybe there are idiots out there who would do stupid things like that. I didnt think anyone would do such a thing.

Never underestimate the ingenuity of idiots.

I once saw a holed piston on a two stroke bike "Repaired" with a coutersunk bolt and a nut.

What the hell. People were acting like it was normal too! Hah.

Recent post was lost in the mist:

My VTR1000 friend said that'll be no problem to fix as he had to change his too.
