Bought and downloaded some tutorial vids to find they're .mov files
The supplied front end menu thing is a bit crap and VLC player
wont or cant play them presumably due to some DRM thing?

What's good for un-DRM-ing them so I can select the relevent files and play them using VLC?

I download and tried 2 progs, one wouldn't touch them and the other only
offerd a limited service unless I threw money at them
They both installed all manner of shit on my PC as well which pissed me off.

freeware would be nice.

TIA

It's not like I don't give them a chance.
I even have an iPhone that I use to piss myself off.

The main problem for me is their bloatware. I owned an ipod (I also had the far superior iriver before the ipod was invented), installed itunes and lo and behold, my decent spec PC had noticably slowed down due to all the shit that came along with itunes. This only got worse too. I installed itunes not so long ago onto my PC and there were about 6 other apps installed in my program manager. All this to drag and drop some fkin pictures and mp3's to my desktop...

My Samsung on the other hand, does have some Samsung Kies software, that is not obtrusive, not needed and frankly pointless software for 99% of owners, as the Samsung just needs to be connected via USB and you can drag and drop as if it was any storage device.

Quite why Apple see the need to be so intrusive, I have no idea.

Rant over.

Fuck Quicktime.

Ok, now it's over.

I've tried the rename option which worked but I was never convinced by it and handbrake it was relatively easy.

Never tried adapter as it looks Windows based.

At the risk of going all Tef:

What you need to do with this file in the first instance is re-wrap it. There should be a bunch of open source tools to do this as FFMpeg can do it I think, but that's just an open source framework. No doubt someone will have written some tasty open source FFMpeg based GUI to do it for you. The essence inside the file doesn't really matter, (It's probably MPEG 2 anyway), but you probably want to convert it into an MXF or something so that VLC likes it better.

Thanks for the replies

I'm utterly sick and tired with it all now

I installed/tried another two progs
One seemed promising and about to do the job, let me load the 28 mov files
then said "you only get 3 minutes"
then "you gimme fifty dollah, I love you long time"
or words to that effect.
Ahh! so that's what free download means
Took a while weed out the crap it loaded again with Ccleaner

I saw itunes suggested elsewhere but
I don't want or need anything other then VLC really
as it plays every other media file I have as and how I like and
I'm reluctant to buy software for just one use.

Cansas offer was good but I don't have broadband and it took ages to download
so uploading would be PITA and I couldn't connect to mega.co.nz anyway
(this free network imposing a restriction perhaps? dunno)

Now I'm thinking ah fuck it
It isnt as if I can't view them, just not in the way I'd like
I'll just put up with the wanky front end and never ever ever!
download shit like this again.

I may have go at the wikihow tips when I have the emotional strength
for more tears and tantrums.

VLC will play .mov files if you have the codecs you need. mov is just a wrapper round the file.

Also search Youtube for them or since you've paid for them you can torrent with a clear conscience.

Just out of interest, have you tried something like gopro studio to convert it? (It's free).
