A 1000 Fazer!

Went in to look at a CBR600F Sport and came out with an agreement on this, go figure!

https://www.hastingsmotorcyclecentre.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/IMG_7900.jpg

Few scrapes to the front cowel, no drop damage, a bit of flaky engine paint but other than that it's a pretty clean example, very well cared for. The previous owner couldn't ride her any more as he had cancer and had only really used it for journeys to Europe.

Excited....a little Smile Just gotta wait until he has some workshop time to get a small niggle, service and MOT sorted. Hopefully early next week at the latest, maybe even before the weekend.

I think a little tentative riding is in order for a while as it's huge compared to what I've been riding (NSR125). Sure I'll pick it up in no time (hopefully not off the floor though).

Got myself a Haynes for her and first job is to check the EXUP as I understand these are a week spot on these machines, along with shoddy suspension.

Nice, I have the newer FZ1 but they're great bikes. Talk to Chickenstrip for all the FZS1000 tips.

I hadn't considered a newer version but then I kinda bought this on the hop. Having looked at later models they would have stretched my budget a little as I need to be getting some new safety gear, tools etc also.

I'd get the stealer to sort the EXUP as part of the conditions for sale. Let them deal with the almost inevitable snapped bolts. After they say they've done it, check to see that the bolts undo easily and look for signs of fresh copper grease, as proof.

If it's on a standard rear shock, ditch it ASAP, and put something decent on the back. Absolutely transforms the handling (R6 item is very popular, and won't break the bank if sourced from the right place, including someone who knows which one is right for these bikes; Nitron's also rated highly, but more expense most likely); it's the one 'must-do' mod if you do nothing else.

Front suspension isn't bad, but I found that upgrading on the back allowed me to push it harder, highlighting a touch of flex in the forks. Not a problem for most, and will be fine if you don't fancy further expense. Then drop the bike down the forks 8-10mm to quicken the steering a little - it won't harm stability except for perhaps at absolutely maxed out speed, and then not drastically so.

Enjoy! Very Happy

It's a done deal now so can't really be asking for the EXUP to be sorted....if it even needs it. Like I said, it's a well cared for bike and if the previous owner knew his stuff, hopefully this is something he'll have covered.

Find out once she's delivered eh Wink

Went and picked her up today and I'm impressed! It would be a lie if I were to tell you I wasn't as nervous as hell jumping straight onto a 1000cc after my wee little 125cc but quite literally around 10 seconds into the ride I was in heaven Smile the wife was following behind keeping an eye on me, fer her piece of mind, until I decided my left hand was hurting too much all that stop start in traffic so bid her farewell Evil or Very Mad

Runs smooth and soooo easy to ride. Took it easy of course Wink

Certainly a very nice bike you've got for sale there! However, I think the CBR being sold was a sign that this was, in fact, the bike for me. Certainly more of an all rounder and I think the seating position suits me better then the CBR.
