Hi Guys

Having a nightmare with a new build, built many a computer before now and am at my wits end.

I5 6500
Asus H110 M Plus
8GB Kingston Savage
250GB Samsung EVO SSD

All parts are compatible.

Install Windows 7, have trouble getting updates - does one or two then seems to brick. Install all drivers that come with disc from motherboard and then suddenly renders my mouse and keyboard useless.

Restore it to before these drivers were installed and they work fine.

Re-install windows 7 and repeat process and same problem.

When installing drivers from CD it gets to about 35% progress and just stalls and kills my mouse and keyboard.

Updated BIOS to latest version and re-installed windows 7 again.

Thought I would do the drivers first to see if made a difference - loads to about 35% and seemingly crashes and renders mouse and keyboard useless again.

Each time it does this - I can use the mouse and keyboard fine throughout the BIOS and they are both recognised within BIOS.

Nothing is getting hot.

I can't understand what the issue is.

Do I have a faulty motherboard or disc with drivers?

Cant see why it would be as it all boots and runs / idles fine etc.

Hoping someone might have an obvious answer / suggestion for me Thumbs Up

I just cant think of where to go next Crying or Very sad

Get the latest drivers from the MF website and stop using the CD?

When W7 is done installing, do you actually have any errors in the device manager? W7 does a pretty good job of fetching the right drivers already. Might be no need to use ones off the CD.

Not sure about mouse and keyboard but W7 is notoriously shit for getting updates. I had to format my mum's laptop about 6 months ago for her... said I would have it back to her in 2 hours... 29 hours later it had only just finished downloading and installing all updates.

It looks like nothing is happening... for hours, then they start flooding through.

Have you tried a different version of Windows? Possible your mobo drivers are not compatible with W7?

This......

If your chasing FPS for games then you might install the correct drivers for the GPU along with its bundled apps (for custom GPU profiles for games)

I would also install the Samsung magician software if your SSD is recent as it does a very good job of tweaking the system for SSDs and also use a portion of memory as a ramdrive/cahce

If you have any ! in the device manager then the relevant chipset

There is a problem with the windows update in Win7 SP1, google it and download the updated file from microsoft or if you're not into wasting time
