Ellopeeps.

Was watching a video earlier and saw a bloke use a dogbone spanner, something I'd not seen before :-

Looks like something handy to keep on the bike - anyone use one, or are the heads too bulky to be of any real use?

Any spanner is better than no spanner at all, but I prefer to keep a £7 set of Maplins stubby spanners in my toolkit.

Look like they might be worth a punt if they are made out of good material to a high standard.
I doubt that they would be up to a lot if you had to put a lot of pressure on them.
Might be easier than carrying half a dozen spanners maybe?

You mean like this kind of thing?

£3.29 from Halfords.

The swivel one in the OP may give better access if you have to go in at an angle, but it might also foul things because of the width of the head. As there are very few sizes needed on the bike, I'd rather (and do) just carry normal spanners in the appropriate sizes rather than a full set.

"Dogbone Spanners" sounds like the name of a blues musician.

"And next up, we have Dogbone Spanners playing his latest hit, 'I Read One Of Tef's Walls Of Text, And Now I Want To Die.'"

I'm not a fan of those, for an obvious reason, they are too thick. When you can use a spanner this thick, you may as well use a ratchet wrench, which gives you more torque and shorter work time. But, as stated earlier, it is better than nothing. My motorcycle tool kit is a 8mm, 10mm, 12mm and 14mm spanner, 2 screw drivers, 2 Alan keys and small pliers. All that being packed in a rag making a small package of usefulness. Thumbs Up
