Inspired by this guy: https://www.kadir-buxton.com/home-page what inventions have you come up but never got the credit for?

Aged 4: cure for hiccups, 50% apple juice 50% orange juice... it works try it Very Happy

Aged 12: Mixed Polycell filler with some paint, years later they came out with such a product. I'm still waiting on my royalty cheque Folded arms

To qualify you must have created a prototype or working product (so Rainpal doesn't count Wink). "I had that idea" stories can stay down the pub.

In 1992ish I sketched up a bollard I wanted to use in Roman Road to protect the kerbs where large vehicles were over running the footway and a company made it for me. I didn't want to use Bell bollards which I am not a fan of and based my sketch on mooring posts I had seen in the local docks. This bollard actually takes the place of the kerb stone.

Since then they have popped up in quite a few places and I heard the MOD were using them to protect building from armoured vehicles and I have seen a few large lorries stuck on them with no damage to the bollard itself.

You may have seen them used on width restrictions.

Believe it or not I emailed Google outlining a device they could use to monetise video streaming and pretty much described the Google Chromecast device to them. The plan then though was to use it to sell movies as a package that they can then view on any google account enabled device including phones/tablets and TV via the device.

I sent the email back in 2010 and stupidly used my Gmail account.
They replied saying they were not interested and when they announced it in 2012 I checked for the email and all traces were gone.

Way way way back when the internet was in its infancy and only colleges had fast internet we used to download stuff and used FSsplit to put it onto 3.5inch floppy discs.

Very large files would often necessitate massive sportsbags filled with floppy discs. Invariably they would also get corrupted. With a lot of experimentation we built a 250mb mass storage device that plugged into the serial port.

We enjoyed 240x320 porn movies all summer... this was the precursor to portable mass storage probably.

I thought of the 'Standby saver' in 2004 and chatted about it on a YahooGroup - not long after someone sold the idea on Dragon's Den.
They might've thought of it independently, but I like to think that they stole it from me.

I basicaly invented the concept of the Kawasaki Versys in 2005 by modifying a KLE500 (Verysys came out in '07). Offroad styled, mid range paralell twin with cast alloy 17" wheels.

My Grandad was a caravan maker in Manchester and invented the portakabin because he noticed he was hiring a lot of caravans to builders for use as site offices. A certain Robert B Farquhar came down one day to look at them...

When pizza companies start making a semi-circular tear-out section in their pizza box lids to make it easier to have a >12" pizza box on your lap while using the lid as a bib, remember you heard it here first.

1 ml or 1 litre?

Any reasonable quantity will do (say a cup) for the magic formula to work Smile

If it's the same one I'm thinking of the Dragons backed out (after agreeing to invest on the show), as a lot of people were trying to get a patent for your device.

Ah yeah, you're right - but my device was so good he made millions anyway. Yay! Oh... d'oh.

Quote:
All five Dragons pledged investment in the Standby Saver, a seemingly unique plug-like device for cutting the power wasted by appliances when left in standby mode.

But the original deal was based upon a patent that the inventors Peter Ensinger and David Baker needed to protect their product.

In the end the situation could not be resolved and their deal fell through.

But that is not the end of the story.

Peter and David subsequently found another investor to buy into the product, and while Peter will not reveal exactly how much he made from the deal he does tell us he never needs to work again, which sounds like a pretty satisfying outcome - from his perspective at least.

Did you put the price up to £10 first and offer it to him half price?

A large chunk of the Imageperfect range (available through Spandex). Self adhesive products for digital printing. No credit given but product development was part of the job.

Over a dozen years ago my (now ex) and I had an awesome idea to sell black baby-grows with funky sayings on them, for goth and rock parents. We thought about calling it Dead Babies, but a well-meaning friend talked us out of it, telling us the world wasn't really ready for that yet, and no matter how hard I tried to find someone, we could not find a supplier, would probably have had to dye white ones black, ourselves.

Now every street corner has black baby-gros with cute/gross little sayings and pictures

Around 1976 between writing lyrics for the sex pistols and tutoring James Hunt on how to pick up 'birds' (as he insisted on saying) my mate Terry and myself build a small working prototype 'Large Hadron Collider'.

I blame the intensive work involved in that for getting me such crap GCSE/CSEs only 3 years later.
