There are numerous hazards to be faced in Cyprus, comedic driving standards, thousands of gun-toting weekend hunters shooting small defenceless creatures, and a genetic inability to queue. Forest fires are also common especially as everything is tinder-dry at the moment.

However, this Sunday things were a bit too close for comfort. The video was taken along the road to our house. Not filmed by me, we were watching for our balcony desperately hoping the wind would not change direction. It didn't so the fire didn't get any closer.

Burn Baby Burn

In other news, Charlie the cat ate Barry, a tiny (grasshopper-size) gecko today. His tail had only just grown back (Barry's) after Charlie's last attempt.

Sorry for your loss (Barry)......but congrats to Charlie for getting double portions of food that day.

Video looks a bit apocalyptic..... And a little prophetic. The world burns and everyone stands around filming it.

You're right Pidge, that's the zeitgeist captured right there, literally, on a camera phone.

And,

The Charlie and Barry story is a metaphor too. Charlie takes a piece of Barry then just as Barry gets back to normal......boom.....Charlie strikes again and takes everything.

It's the Government vs the People, right there, on our patio.

Shocked Shocked Shocked

My friend Elena says I need to bring a cardie (oh sorry, "light jumper") for when we go up in the mountains. Clearly she is talking thru her arse. I've put a hoody in there anyway Laughing

Trust your friend! You'll need a ganzey. It's warm during the day, usually around 25 degrees. However, as the sun starts to lower from mid afternoon, it gets cooler quickly and you'll want an extra layer.

HTH Thumbs Up

To take your metaphor a bit further....

Charlie could have had another bit of tail, waited till it grew back again and the had another bit. Thumbs Up

This could have gone on forever with just a little pain for Barry, but now Charlie has to find someone new to nosh on.

Immigrant geckos anyone?
