Hey Guys and Gals,

I recently purchased myself a 2001 Honda CG125 as a starter/commuter bike. This Bike has had quite a few owners and it has been Salvaged at one point so it is also serves as a project for me.

The Carburrettor which came with the Bike had began to leak fuel everywhere out of every possible plave it could. I discovered the float was damaged. I have replaced the Carb today and have discovered a new problem. The throttle bracket on the Carburretor is set in its default position and it is returning straight to the closed position when I release the Throttle. Despite this, however, the Bike is revving itself straight to it's Max. This happens in Neutral with no Throttle Movement.

Would anyone have any ideas on what this problem could be?

Adi

you have replaced carburettor - suggest is possible flooding due to stuck float valve, tickover is usually set on the adjusting screw, but seems like the 'new' carb needs cleaning/setting up - if its a 2nd hand one then the small passages in it are probably gummed up . I had a GSX750 which went to max revs - due to one carb overflowing

Well what I have... is a new float bar (To hold it in place) and a new Float Pin (Rubber tipped thing) which I have put back into my old Carb and then attached back to the bike. The problem started after I had done this. It is the old Carb with two new parts.

HI Adi

I take it you had the carb off the bike to change the parts and had unscrewed the cap where the cable goes into the carb off. If it was me I'd take this off again and make sure the slider inside was the right way round , get it wrong and it doesn't close properly giving the symptoms you have.
From memory the should be a cutout at the bottom which faces the airbox.

Thank you Cresad, we have a winner!

In my rookie naivety it seems I did indeed put the slider in the wrong way round. Checked it and fourty seconds later the issue is resolved.

Thanks mate.
