He's president and my FB feed is full of people acting like it's the end of the world.... WW3, blacks & Muslims will be deported etc etc.

So, a question from someone who's far from in tune with the worlds news. How bad is the situation (or maybe good?) that Trump's won the election? What's the realsitic things that will happen while he's president?

Well WW3 is far less likely than with Clinton. For a start he wants a better relationship with Russia while Hilary didn't seem bothered about the ramifications of shooting down Russian jets over Syria.

Also Trump isn't in the war business, unlike a lot of Clintons heavy backers.

America itself will be fine; without congressional approval a Manchurian Candidate President cannot do too much damage.

Rest of the world is in for an interesting time, though. NATO has been the world's police since the end of Cold War; when the policeman decides to take time off things can get real messy real quick in the darker areas of town.

The President is mostly a figurehead. Things he can do, or at least put Congress on spot for:

0) Appoint supreme court judges. Yee haw, bill of rights.
1) Declare war. Much less likely.
2) Undeclare war. More likely.
3) Press for free trade deals. More likely.
4) Border security. More of.
5) 3rd world immigration. Less of.
6) Spies and such. Will probably get super-gadgets.

Anything inside their borders, not so much. States still run most of their own day to day business, and Congress does the money stuff.

Really, it's all good for the Septics, although many of them don't realise it. Snow-Mexico might have to beef up their border security to stop the swarms of refugees fleeing North.

It will all be fine, we are all saying he is nuts, cant be trusted, finger on the button, so who in the right mind is going to rattle him ?

He has passion for the Country he has become President in, he isn`t going to water anything down or let anyone mock the USA,
So the Putins of this world would actually have preferred a Hilary, that don`t over react and can be bullied, like we are when their Jets "Buzz" the UK,
Trump will just tell the Air Force to shoot the buggers down,

Would I want him in charge here, No, but will it be different, oh god yes,
with Hilary you`d just get the same old shi te they keep getting, look how honest the last Clinton`s were in the White House,

WW3 nah, may actually peg a few back and make the World safer.

(Flame suit on for having an opinion)

Trump is a child trapped in a man's body. Just wave shiny things at him and he'll switch focus. He's a perfect president for the backroom boys to run the country how they want.

As above from a political viewpoint. My BUT, is that, maybe now you can actually say what you think, without having to go through a checklist of feminist, racist, homophobia-ist, etc thought control.
The man is a beast but let's have some kind of sneaking admiration.
The Beeb is in shock to its core, ordinary people having the temerity to tell the shriekers to F-off!

He's a less froody version of Zaphod Beeblebrox.

He's also used to getting his own way and when he finds out that being president of the US doesn't mean everyone does what he tells them, he'll have a tantrum, then a sulk, then go and do something else.

Just like when he made a golf course in Aberdeen then found they were building an offshore wind turbine he could see. Shout and scream, threaten, then give up and buy Turnburry instead.

I can't see him going through the machinations, agreements and compromises it takes to get things done in a democratic system as complex as the one they have in the US. He'll lose interest very quickly.

The problem however, is that Trump isn't a Republican.... Look at his final TV ad, he wants to scrap Obamacare and install universal healthcare: good luck finding GOP senators/representatives who are willing to sign off on that!

Barack "hope and change" Obama was blocked from passing legislation with just the Republicans opposing him in the houses. Trump is gonna be getting hate from all the Democrats and the vast majority of Republicans too.

He'll probably be able to fire off a few Executive Orders at the most and with any legislation getting blocked in the Houses.

Indeed, I think he's in for a very tough time if he thinks he can simply do what he wants, and others will just do as they're told

Although let's see just how many of his 'promises' he follows up on, and how many were just what the average 'American' wanted to hear

I somehow can't see the president of Mexico reaching for his chequebook any time soon!

Wild doomsday theory:

American politics may be quagmire of a system for a president to actually control.

But it wouldn't be hard for the guy to use his platform to tell people to "fuck the system" even more and take the law and their desires into their own hands. "Free markets, cut the red tape, use common sense and self-preservation!"

That method worked for him quite well on his physically harmless quest to get rich, so he may be quite willing to tell his country to do the same. His country, armed to the teeth via their 2nd amendment.

Alternative doomsday theory:

Donald Trump starts making pushes for the above to happen.

Gets assassinated.

Hell he might be assassinated anyway.

Nothing spectacular will happen, the world isn't going to end, snowflakes will bawwww, toys will be thrown from prams so markets and currencies will fluctuate. Then at some point people will realise that the harbingers of doom were wrong so things will return to "normal" (whatever that might be Laughing).

They already let the guy who had a pop at Ronald Regan out earlier this year.

I suppose it was easy for them, the programming is already in place, they only have to change the first letter of the name.

Trump's fans are the ones with the guns. He'll not be assassinated by a nutbar; they're all delighted. If it happens it'll be a CIA job made to look like a nutbar did it. Probably a minority-patsy for panto-villain effect.

Trump's fans are (by and large) the ones with the legally held guns, used responsibly.

His enemies are a triggered mob who already have form for kicking off, and have been inculcated with the sure and certain knowledge that Trump is literally Hiter.

If you truly believed that you could stop the next Hitler, wouldn't you?

Still, at he's unlikely to throw things and screech abuse at this Secret Service detail, so they might actually take a bullet for the Emperor.

The Emperor!

We rack disciprine.

Oh! OH! One thing that he probably can deal with.

The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive ~ Donald J. Trump.

Apparently it was vote for "change", an "anti establishment" vote, if you believe the propaganda!

Of course the best way to bring about change and give the establishment a kicking, is to vote in a motor mouth, inherited wealth, billionaire, a megalomaniac business man fighting off a string of lawsuits as long as your arm! Somone so anti establishment he's spent decades trying to buy his way into it! Rolling Eyes

Way to go USA, that'll teach the "establishment"!
Now bow down to your new, orange, overlord, yee haw!

This argument loses quite a bit of credibility when you realise that the opposition for said megalomaniacal billionaire was one of the most hated scions of a political dynasty that's mainly remembered for triangulation and philandering. Either way, once Clinton and Trump emerged as the front runners, it was always going to be a race to the bottom.

It will be 4 years of him failing to deliver on his pre-election promises at the end of which they will be able to elect a proper candidate:

I still have no idea what any of his policies are. All I hear is what an intolerable little tit he is.

Still, I'm looking forward to the following conversation:
Trump: "About that wall..."
Mexico : "Let me introduce you to our Cartel."
