I would go for Picanto, others have been hammered.

You should be alright when it comes to selling the Picanto too, learner/new drivers will chop your hands off for it as its only 1.1.

Having had a Kia Rio, as a hire car earlier this year, I can tell you it was utterly gutless!
Playing tunes on the gearbox didn't make any difference at all if you needed to get up any kind of hill! This was a new car with around 20k miles on it!
Don't think I'd want to own one!

I'd have the fiesta out of that list as 10 year old Kia's are awful hateful things.

The real answer however is probably none of your list. Whats your budget?

Fiesta, unless it's a nail. In which case I'd find a different Fiesta.

This ^

What will you be using the car for, just a cheap run around or will you be doing any long runs in it?

And where abouts are you looking to buy from, location wise?

Many do, although they may charge you a fee for doing so, or won't drop the price as much to offset the cost.

If you're planning to pay by credit card, see if your credit card provider have any 'Money Transfer' offers

Quote:
How much?
Minimum transfer amount is £100, maximum transfer amount depends on your credit limit and balance.

Interest?
0% interest for the promotional period, depending on your offer.

Fees?
Typically 1.9% to 2.9%, depending on your offer.

To qualify?
Go to Barclaycard online servicing or use the Barclaycard app to see if you have a money transfer offer.

Currently Barclaycard are offering me 0% interest on a money transfer until August 2017 and a 2.4% transfer fee

Also, if using credit, find an interest free credit card deal which will allow cash transfers, tranfer the cash out to your bank account and then buy from wherever you like.

At the sort of prices you're paying for a small 9 year old petrol hatchback, the dealer will be stinging you badly for not a lot of gain.

If you do the above then you'll get more for your money buying private at that sort of budget.

Out of the 3 cars you've suggested I'd go with the Fiesta.

It depends on the price... I'd probably have the Fiesta, but then again, I'd be looking based on my price range, not the smallest engine and this doesn't actually equate to cheapest to run.

I've got more miles from a 1.5 and a 1.9 diesel than I have in my 1.1 petrol.

I've also got more mpg from 5.4L V12 than 3L straight 6...

If your keeping it for a while don't buy a Fiesta, they just rot and rust away, I'd have the Picanto, it's small, economic and reliable from what I've seen.

I bought a 1.1 Fiesta years ago to get through a cheap year's motoring whilst my wife went back studying. Hateful thing, and because it was so slow, you had to boot it everywhere to make any progress. And because you had to boot it, the fuel economy was poor.

So poor in fact, that the turbocharged 80's Nissan that replaced it would return better miles per gallon as you could use part throttle, whilst still getting places faster.

Cool Story Bro key message = increasing engine size increases the size of your dong.

Of course it all comes down to price but having owned a '09 Fiesta and an '04 picanto, I would go for the Fiesta all day long.
Different world in terms of size, comfort and bits not dropping off. It's also the newest and should have many tens of thousands of miles left in it. Also easier to find replacement parts I would think as loads of Fiestas about.

People saying the fiesta is slow are right but everything is relative and I suspect they haven't driven a 10 year old 1.1 picanto.

The whole engine had to be replaced on our Picanto (under warranty) within 2 years as it had fallen off it's mount. I think Kia's reputation has improved in recent years but I Wouldn't want a 10yr old one.

I wish sometimes I still had my little Suzuki Alto 800cc hatchback that is all!

It was a great little car and though battered and a stolen recovered, I used to change the oil/fluids, filters and sparkplugs every year, despite doing 3000-4000m tops, and throw tons of autoglym Polish and wax all over it too. I did the same with the Vauxhall Astray 1.4 I had before it, and almost bought some colour coded bumpers and a GSI grill to smarten it up. Its a disease I have with old throwaway cars in that I spend silly money on cleaning and car care shit.

Oh and on salted gritty winter roads I'd find it best for my health to leave my £300-500 battered shitters on the drive and take the bus or someone elses car. Otherwise I'd not be able to relax if I couldn't brush hot soapy water under the wheel arches straight away when I got home in the cold and dark. Laughing

My current car I've got even more excuses not to take out in variable weather, as I've got a exposed cotton cone air filter right down under the front bumper, that I don't want to splash water and shit all over too.

Has the fiesta had the cambelt replaced? Normally due at 100k or 10 years. Would of been my choice out of those three, i pity anyone who drives a piCunto as one of my female customers calls it. Laughing

My ignis sport is tiny, looks incredibly stupidly Japanese, only has a few issues, cost me £650, does 45 mpg (does use the more 'spensive petrol though) and insurance with 3 years ncb late 20's young maaan parked on a street - £320 FC (cheaper than fptpft)

If I get it to last for at least one full year I'll be happy - I'll probably crash it before it breaks down ...
