Yeahello, i’m new around this parts, so 1st of all, my name is Pedro, 28 and i’m Português.
i had gpz600r that tried to took way my legs in the divorce but thankfully, my lawyer is the bomb! Razz
so now i was looking at my sym xs 125 k and decided to mess around with it. the engine was busted so… went out the window. i’ve been looking, and i know that this is hard but ear me out.
Imagine the frame of the cb500, the twin cylinder?! ok. so… i’ll need a lot of things, but i think the most importante will be to reinforce the frame on the engine bay “floor” of the 125
i know i need forks, electric, tires, brakes and so on so on.
my question to you, Gods of the bike is! will it bend?
let’s be honest… every measures is almost exactly the same. like 0,3 to 5% diference… so let the games begin Razz

Thx

I think he's suggesting shoehorning a 600cc IL4 into the frame of a 125 commuter and putting 69hp through its rear wheel.

This is an excellent idea and I heartily endorse live-streaming its first run.

Anything is possible. Doesn't make it easy or worthwhile.

The biggest problem, assuming the engine fits in the frame, will be getting the chain run to line up and fabricating engine mounts, then fitting the airbox. A CB500 engine will run like shit on pod filters.

Mounting the radiator would be tricky, the wheel and mudguard will smash into it.

If it did work, you'd have a bike with brakes and suspension designed for a 125. It would still look shit, too.

Sell the sym frame and buy a CB500. If you want to make something fun, start with something fun and make it better.

thank you for the reply, the ideia was to use the frame and upgrade everything else, for you i might be easier to buy a cb but for me it's not. do you have any advice on a good engine to fit in? preferably not 125cc Razz

Looks like it has the CG125 pushrod copy engine (156/157FMI) so 150cc piston and barrel kits are readily available.

The other option is the Honda 233cc twin from the CD250/Rebel/Nighthawk, or the 253FMM Chinese copy. It might fit straight in, although build reports usually end at the "OK, I'ma try it now!" part.
