Is there one bigger than BCF?

Visordown has more users but less posts. MCN has less posts. The Rev Counter has less posts and isn't just about bikes. There's loads of others but none seem to have a huge amount of posts.

So is there anywhere bigger than BCF?

www.big-boards.com was my first point of call, but couldn't reach it, and it would appear it's been gone for a while now as this archive discussion I stumbled across on google shows

https://www.warriorforum.com/main-internet-marketing-discussion-forum/696138-big-boards-down.html

long ago a board I helped run made the listings, oh well

I'm still trawling through this one, but it's a bit sucky and hard to navigate

I'd have thought posts over the last year would be a reasonable metric to base the claim on, ideally linked to active users in that time.
Not really paid attention to which forums are still popular, nevermind more detailed information.

Not really much going on over here. When there are posts it's the same people responding.

I find the UK forums to be pretty dull places really. Many more popcorn moments over at ADV especially in the bike forums. Horizon has a strong UK base but can be a bit bland.

They got rings, mugs and tee shirts and stuff

https://www.bikersforchrist.org/merchandise/images/bling/IMG956134_resized_1.jpg

And they do nice jackets and badges and things too

https://www.bikersforchrist.org/images/patch%20rocker.jpg

Why cant people here be nice and proper bikers like what they are?

Instead you're always pickin on people like that Adam irons who's trying to save lives
by inventing things what go on that face thing what you put on your helmet

But no, you lot just keep picking on him, all the time just picking on him
Picking, picking, picking, all the time just picking
Stop it
I hate you

I think this is one of the more active ones, and there's plenty of knowledge about. It does require a certain attitude though! That's not always a bad thing. The only other one I bother posting on is themotorbikeforum.co.uk.

I also like advrider.com but it's US based predominantly.

I ended up here due to a Google related accident while looking for Barnsley Football Club.

Funny you should ask, define biggest!

For no particular reason I had a trawl through the members list a couple of months ago.

When I looked there were a total of 32788 members!

Of those members:-
9444 (29%), users have no positive karma at all, they'e either in the black, in the red or have one white blob. (Not sure why people who are banned are still on the member list, bit of an oxymoron).

23504 (72%), have made 10 posts or less!
29350 (90%), have made 50 posts or less!
31516 (96%), have made less than 500 posts!

Which leaves 1312 (4%), of members who have made more than 500 posts, which I would consider enough posts for a member to be considered active!

Of the 96% of, apparently, dead wood, the vast majority haven't posted for ages, (that's totally non scientific, that's just the impression I got when scrolling through the list).

It would be no great loss to the active forum members if at least 90% of that lot were culled, but I guess, the sainted, Kornholio has ad revenue to think about!

I know of a few bike and car forums that the admin does actually cull and delete members that are considered inactive. I think in some cases you need to make at least five posts per year to keep your account.

It seems reasonable to me as let's be honest if someone hasn't posted for say 2years, there's every chance they are running around after wives, kids, and babies, that or they were forced to sell up to free up cash for a new house or kitchen etc. Or they had an off/gave themselves a scare and sold up, or simply found a more interesting hobby with better more friendly or active forums? Wink

There's only one member who has a short memory and 1311 sock accounts.

Well I'm a full member of the CMA, and we got about 350 members across the country, half of whom don't use computers much, and BFC is smaller still (in the UK that is). Laughing

It can be a bad idea to discharge all the ammo in the first volley, before the ideal aim and trajectory for the battery, and the enemy's strength, intentions, spirit and movements on the field are fully known. If an army's strength is all in its first charge, if that charge is resisted, defeat for that army is soon to follow.

I see no reason to have more than 1 year old posts in the Workshop section. It would seem that the crown jewel of this site is either the New User or Workshop section. Why would any inactive user want to engage unless they need either the advice of more experienced riders or help with fixing their machine?

Old posts in a section like the workshop/new bikers wold probably bring a metric fuckton of traffic, if my admin'ingness of other forums is anything to go by.

Whack "R1 not starting", "which 215 to buy" or something similar into google, and there's a good chance you'll end up here, assuming google's geolocation algorithim/voodoo is working.

I suspect that BCF has such high search rankings because BCF gets crawled by a lot of searchbots because BCF has such high search rankings.
