The first episode was mostly just one giant middle finger to the Beeb. With the nail painted bright red.

Choice of song on the intro, the whole scale of the performance, the comment about abusing horses and especially the presence of the LaFerrari. Pretty sure Ferrari refused to allow it to appear on Top Gear.

I believe all 3 were bitching about stuff, hence why they had to run on the same tyres.

Nah, it works. GT as we know is a well known car gimick thing, Grand Tour, hinted in this pilot, next week Jo Burg, Barbados was mentioned.

I think they will be taking it around the world on a "grand tour".

Just watched, like others have said nice to see all three together in one place.

Not so sure on the "moving around the world" thing with the tent yet.

All in all excellent viewing, some bits slower than others which I can see being changed as the season progresses.

The whole popint about calling it the grand tour (GT) is that it's the opposite of top gear (TG)...

90% of Top Gear is back. Thumbs Up

Yes there was quite a bit of filler, and while the opening sequence was brilliant and it was great to see the guys back, they were a bit clunky around the bits they didn't seem 100% happy with.

But whatever. It was mostly fantastic. The cars were utterly brilliant and had a decent time on screen and it was nice they got to finally to the comparison of the P1, La Ferrari and 918 that they failed to bring together on the BBC.

Initially I thought the new track was utter shit. But, it seemed to make more sense when Stigish was doing hot laps.

You get the feeling that actually, what happened to TG, has lit a fire under the team to prove how good they were, to create another brilliant show. Whereas maybe, they'd been a bit stifled by TG's own success, or they weren't bothered as much in later series.

It's going to take a series to iron out the shite probably, but I'm a happy punter Very Happy

On demand and HD is nice too.......can't say much positive about the rest of Amazon Prime though.

It was an ok introduction. It was beautifully shot for sure. I think the world has moved on from the 918/P1/ La Ferrari shootout (Chris Harris did the same thing at the same track about a year ago). The M2 segment was good.

Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Thoroughly enjoyed it, sat down with the son-in-law and we both agreed the touring aspect could be quite fun. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Filmed at the same time (it was a joint thang).

Even worse than JC top gear; but they do have a 'Mercan audience to consider.

Hope Swindon Karting does well out of it at some point, at least Smile.

Moving this in here for G...

I was wondering where that was, it was the only part of the show that felt extremely budget (maybe that was the point). They could have found a much better test track.

The bit at the start and the 'in shows to come' sequence seemed a bit CGIish.

There were motorbikes in it - one has to wonder Thinking

Now that I didn't know. Was this filmed on their production company or separate ones? (IIRC it was before JC's sacking).

And Millbrook and Bedford Autodrome being off straight off the drop of my head.

Think it was some place called Wroughton.

As on the track there was a substation, that had Wroughton written on it.

Nope after JC's sacking: https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/entertainment/news/a26957/clarkson-hammond-and-may-testing-the-laferrari-vs-918-spyder-vs-p1/ (Clarkson was sacked in the spring of that year).

Not in the freelance or self employed world,

Found this interview which I thought was interesting.

tl;dw and had his contract not been up for renewal it would have been terminated. Had he not punched a producer you imagine it would have been renewed. HTH avoid a protracted pedantic argument...

I know it won't =)
