Hi all,

Fixed my lack of power via a good de-coke so thanks again to those who advised that.

Think I might be looking for witchcraft or spiritual guidance this time.

So, problem 1 - Was out riding yesterday, and when I got home and went to turn her off, the key had mysteriously disappeared from the ignition. Ignition now stuck on so I can still kickstart and go look for the key in the 3 mile radius of where I rode (I'm likely not to find it). It's the only key I had. I've ordered a barrel and key but that doesn't solve the fuel tank! Embarassed

Problem 2 - Couple weeks ago I replaced the headrace bearings with a tapered set so now it's nice and smooth. Yokes all went back in nice and tight etc etc everything is a nice fit. However - the chrome bits (holding the headlight) that slide onto the forks between the two yokes now rattle like mad and have a half inch gap at the bottom! I've bunged to cable ties on either side to push the chrome bikes up towards the top yoke for now but it'd be nice if someone knew what the hell I was missing because everything is back on as it was and I have no parts left... As I say everything is a tight fit and bike rides lovely.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi

Tapered roller steering head bearings are normally a bit taller than standard ball bearings, so it has probably increased the distance between the top and bottom yokes. Which is a bit of a pain when the headlight holder is located between them.

All the best

Katy

Taper rollers are crap, now you know why. You need to pack the distance out using o-rings or similar.

If i remember correctly (always a gamble at my age) my H100a had rubber grommets in the top and bottom of the headlight brackets...has yours?

Thanks again all. I was totally unaware there would be any difference as everything was such a snug fit and didn't have this problem when I fitted tapered to my old KC100.

There are no missing parts left in my part bags so if there were some little grommets, theyve both ironically buggered off on holiday together.

Wouldn't mind just doing a bodge to stop it rattling but quite like originality. Will have to just find a bodge and consider it an 'upgrade'.

Now to work out how to get fuel in the damn thing after losing the key...
