Great read. What was on the MPG like on the bikes

I am looking to tour on the Tracer next year and reckon I may be able to squeeze 200 miles out of it

Sorry AL, I've never really kept a close eye on fuel consumption figures. I tend to fill up on the early side rather than risk running out somewhere. The Fazer has about a 22l tank, and I have squeezed 200 miles from it before, but that's riding like a nun! But even then, I don't think the low fuel light came on.

No, if I'm in unfamiliar territory away from towns and cities, I just tend to fill up anywhere past the halfway mark on the gauge, unless I'm riding with others. I would suggest not getting in a position where you have to squeeze out every last drop if you can avoid it!

I used to focus on tank range, had a BMW K1200 GT that did 293 miles full to empty. I now have an FJR which will do 270 to a tank but my bladder gets full before the tank is empty these days so it's less of a concern. Very Happy Shocked

I don't really pay much attention to fuel consumption on the FJR. I think the trip average was around 43mpg. I got close to 60mpg in 2016 when France had fuel shortages but it was mind numbingly boring riding Laughing.

Tyre consumption is my big concern Crying or Very sad

If you're going to travel along the eastern coast of the Pyrénées, make sure to take time to take pictures or go sightseeing: these places are magnificent! I remember spending a week there https://tranio.com/france/adt/1543483/rent/ last May, and I had to take stops regularly just for that.

as this thread seems to have its course for now and I really don't think this addition warrants its own thread lol, I thought id post a few pics of the trip me and a mate ended up taking(Following on from a few comments I made earlier in the post) we were initially due to go over to Santander in early June and spend a few days making our way over to Barcelona for the moto gp. Ferry, tickets and some accommodation where booked but had to cancel due to a hospital admittance for my wife, we ended up rebooking the ferry and going over in September and spent 10 glorious days riding around parts of the Picos, Pyrenees, Verdon and French Alps. here are a few pics of the time we spent, excuse the quality as they are only phone pics.

unfortunately the trip, for me anyway, finished like this. in true Aprilia syle, blown stator meant a free ride home from reims.
