Hi all,
I have a Cagiva Raptor 125, bought as a non-runner, that I have just got running again.
It starts but not first time on the button. It turns over a few times with no luck before it fires, normally taking 5-6 attempts.
Also, when it does start, it seems to idle at high rpm. I can't tell you this exact value as it doesn't have a rev counter. But then after about 30 seconds, it will cut out.
My guess is that the carb mixture screws need adjusting, but how do I know if its being starved of air or if its being starved of fuel?
Its a Dellorto PHBH30 (not a standard 28 which is why I can't find much info about it).
There is also a problem with the oil pump so I'm running premix in the tank. This was done in a rough 40:1 ratio but it isn't exact. The bike smokes like mad out the exhaust but I'm guessing this is due to it not running for the last three months so just burning off oil and other bits, or the mixture probably containing too much oil? Could this be part of the problem?
Any help on what I can do to investigate the reasons for it not starting first time on the button, or the reasons for it cutting out would be great. Or any general advice on things I may need to check/have done wrong - its my first project and first bike!
Thanks,
Tom |
