its £125.87 delivered.

I just bought one and my friend bought 2.

4.8 star reviews from gearbest with 91 customer reviews Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

https://www.gearbest.com/3d-printers-3d-printer-kits/pp_337314.html

From what I briefly researched, they are very good with PLA and not great with ABS.

I did consider the found online section but thought more people who would actually care would find it here.

Post up some pics when you've made something - especially if it doesn't look like you've chiseled it out of a block of plastic with a hot spork.

Cool!
Keep us informed of progress and show us what it does.
Great price, I recall seeing some kits at the local hackspace
which were a lot dearer and looked a bit naff
Christ they were slow and somewhat crude too so I went and got a cnc instead but rather fancy a 3D printer so I can build me own rainpal knock offs Laughing

I've made a nice NES style case for my retrogaming Raspberry Pi.

I might have a pop at making a SNES and Megadrive incarnation next.

Those cheap printers are pretty good, but they soon show their limitations.

I have upgraded:

Hotend = E3D - V6
Extruder = MK8
Bed Surface = Builtak
Mosfet added to the bed heating circuit
Auto Levelling Sensor + Firmware needed to auto level.
Igus bearings

Cost = £150
Printer Cost £148

Total = £298

It prints supreme now, the edges are sharp and the curves are rounded. It is probably in the range of the Original Prusa Mk2 now, which costs about £700, so all in all, the printer and upgrades are well worth the monies.

Oh and I bought 40 1kg rolls of PLA for £150 from a guy on Gumtree that has over 1000 rolls that he's shifting. He's in London, if anyone wants some. Search Gumtree in London for 'filament' and he's always on there with them. They are branded and retail at £22 a roll.

what is the strength of the parts produced ?
Could you really use them for spare parts (none load bearing) ?

Yeah, printing with ABS is great, it's very strong. PLA not so much but its still useable in lots of applications. There are even carbon fibre filaments that are real durable, but very expensive.

Hello all,

I bought one of these and started printing all fine.. However, sometimes I get an issue where the printer starts to print the subsequent layers out of alignment with the previous section. Please look at the picture attached of the chess piece so that you can see what I mean. Any suggestions? what can be causing this? It is not always, if you see the other picture from when I started printing the pyramid it looks fine

Could the filament be snagging?
Hubby gets similar errors sometimes.
Recompiling Gcode may work.
May need to recalibrate the height of the nozzle (z axis). It is possible it's catching the print on return to the start of the next layer.

If the print shifts its to do with the axis it's moving along.
Check the belts are not loose and skipping a tooth or two.
Also if it bumps into anything it will cause the print to skip, so make sure the bed or the carriage in question is freely moving and the belts are correctly tensioned.

It's nothing to do with the filament.

Also check you have 1.75mm filament in your slicing software, your prints look like they are expecting 3mm filament.

The quality of your prints will suddenly improve 10fold.

Any suggestions for the cheapest solution that will get a reasonable quality replica of either side of tool batteries - ie things like drills etc.

(And while we're at it, I'd like to make a bike phone mount for my new e-ink phone, maybe RC vehicle things etc.)

The Anet A8 is pretty decent quality for the pricepoint, but to get real decent quality from it, you need to spend on upgraded bearings and hotend. With a bit of tweaking, you will be putting out prints that will put to shame printers of five years ago that cost £3k.

That said, they are slow and can be tedious to dial in properly. If you want an out of the box solution, then spend ££ on an ultimaker.
If you want a top grade i3, then the Prusa Original Mk2 is the benchmark machine, but 5x more than the cheap kits.

It's a jungle out there.

I upgraded mine with a glass pyrex piece to print on (Amazon £10) and a few printed upgrades:
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1620630
www.thingiverse.com/thing:1795148
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1764285

If you don't mind having to:
Occasionally print something more than once
Watch the print for the first few layers and be ready to jump in and restart it if it fails
Fiddle for a while before you really dial it in

Then I've found this kit to be really good.

Top tip for people with the kit:
If you print a file then it will start by heating up the bed followed by the hot end.
If you go through the settings and preheat (either abs or pla, whatever you're using) then it will heat up both at the same time to the preheat values.
While it is preheating you can press print and as it will
heat everything up at once and get to temps MUCH more quickly.

Waiting for mine to be delivered but mainly intend to use it for rapid prototyping before shipping out designs to be machined.

Any day now...

You can print quite a bit of one.

Here we have many Prusa making Prusa at Prusa:

That's not a very well researched list.
For a start, the worlds three most popular home printers are not even on the list.
Then there is the fact they are all in-a-box solutions.
And they are all pretty dud by recent standards.
