I'm using Kdenlive, which I only use occasionally, it's fairly intuitive. There are quite a few others but they're much of a muchness. I run Linux so obviously it's completely free, as is everything else.

The program formerly known as gopro studio is fairly easy but not too basic. Perfectly capable with footage not from gopro.

Windows 7 still had moviemaker which was more than adequate, not sure if you can install it on W10.

The best free one is DaVinci resolve, it's worth trying if you are getting more into it but takes a lot of learning even if you know what you are doing.
Lots of youtube help for that online.
