Bikers are soo hard done by on the road! Why are we the ones who are looked upon as the bad ones when there are soo many idots on 4 wheels driving about oblivious to there surroundings? We have to go through a lot more tests! They can just go out and pass a test and drive there dads car! Do they not realise it's a killing machine they are allowing a non experienced driver to ponder around in?

As opposed to not passing a test, but still able to potter about on a motorised bit of plastic as young as 16?

I think before taking your driving test you should take a CBT and ride a bike for 12 months to realise what motorcyclists have to put up with

Sounds like you've got something, an encounter, you'd like to get of your chest.. come on gis the full story, teflone stylee so you can move on and we don't get any more of these threads.

We [bikers] can also go out and pass a course [CBT] in one day, maybe more, and be let loose, providing we put the funds together to do so, on the roads on a rather underpowered bike so it works both ways.

I'd rather hope those idiots are "in" rather than "on" their car, might prove problematic for everyone if not.. even more so if they're "on" one or all four of their wheels, yuk. Sick

My 200kg + bike is a killing machine. I acknowledge'd well within my first commute on it that if I hit someone side on they'd most likely be toast, we'll have responsibility out on the road. Accidents happen, accident being the key word. I could have just passed my test and got the same bike.. laws and tests work to a certain point and then it all comes down to the individual. Anyway you hurtle past cars only divided by a single white dotted line for the most part at speeds that should you collide even a small amount you could get poato'd, if it worries you that much then I'd advise you don't use the roads.

Riding a motorcycle for 12 months before allowed to do the car test? Why, on the planet Earth, would you even want that? Confused

How about 12 months of riding a horse/horse carriage, so you know what not to do when approaching a horse rider on the road? Laughing

I suspect you're young, very young, moped age, if that's a thing. You'll either grow up or give up. Anyway, motorcycle licensing is a result of car driving people voting for car driving representatives, making all the rules in favour to car drivers. Swap the car drivers for majority. Motorcycling is a dangerous hobby/way of transportation, so it is advisable to take a safe approach of multi-level licences. We can either have that or have laws that would limit what manufacturers can and cannot sell in the EU. Check the Indo-Asian motorcycle market, not many places where you could ride a Firedblade, are they?

TL; DR: You might think the system is not ideal and that it's discriminative. I think it's alright, considering how accessible 160+mph motorcycles are, in Europe. Or you'd rather preffer the L plate warriors on the big bikes from the day one?

horse riding?? What a stupid comparison! What I'm saying is that drivers need to understand observation for other vehicles around them!

Alright, so 12 months of cycling, then. Mr. Wolf Simpson would love that. Razz

*Is he still alive? I mean the cyclist who was mostly, willingly, crashing into other vehicles and yelled at people because of they allegedly did something wrong while he was cycling by.

Nevermind, he's still out there: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiFoXqy7HcNt6DD_zx7u_ag Thumbs Up Laughing

This would help a little towards tackling the country's obesity issues, at least!

Strange isn't it, putting aside the biklife wankers, if a group of bikers are on the road, there are plenty of car drivers who will claim to be intimidated.
99.9% of the time cars, vastly, outnumber bikes on the road, a fact which seems to completely bypass the car drivers' monkey sphere!

Thing is you do have to pass a test though, the CBT!

Nothing wrong with a bit of fat, doesn't detract from the actual person. You're just very judgmental.

Lets see.

Bike. Pass CBT (piss easy) and you can pretty much ride for the rest of your life alone other than retaking CBT every 2 years.

Car. Mmm. Can't drive without a fully licenced passenger. Who must be at least 21 years old. have held a full driving licence for a minimum of 3 years.

So that rules out your average 18 YO going out with his (same age) mates...

Unlike your bike mates who can mass ride together (to the local cafe) Laughing

And then there's insurance.... where the bikes typically win massively.

Try buying then getting insured on a car that'll do 60mph in 3 seconds and edge 160mph.
From £1k to buy the bike and insurance is typically very reasonable for the performance.

You could stick rockets on a kart and not need any insurance.

But you would lose about 90% of the people on dirt bikes and about 50% of the rest of the people that ride. But you will get rid of the messed up golfs.

I do think that a CBT is too easy to get. The fact that you can go out and be on the road next day on a 125 is a pretty scary thing.
