Clickly.

Well, there's not much to click beside choosing your console and seeing if there's anything you like. Prices slashed on random games more so than a big "grab me" deal, only come across it by chance. Dirt Rally - £20.49, F1 2016 - £28.99, Forza Horizon 3 - £23.99 just to list a few popualr titles.

Also Game, or my local one, had an offer on pre-owned xbox 360 games: 5 for £5, 3 for £10 or 3 for £20.

Figured I'd post since christmas and all that. Cheap gift or worth a trip to Game if anyone's still on 360.

Tempted by F1 2016 but xbox one's annoying "must install rather than being able to play straight away" system has put me of putting any more time/money into removing and installing games. Thumbs Down

All consoles are like that now. The PS3 started the whole ripping the wrapper off a game, hurriedly sticking the game in just to wait ages for it to install Rolling Eyes

What annoys me is that they're still selling 500GB consoles. Sure you can upgrade the hard drive in the PS4 or use a portable drive on the Xbox, but you shouldn't have to just to install more than half a dozen games.

I do like how when you download games you can start playing them before its finished.

I just bought a PS4, funnily enough in an Argos deal. 1TB slim, with uncharted, last of us and drove club for £225.

I didn't know about this install the game before playing, but it's bloody annoying. I thought that was the whole appeal of consoles over PCs, you could just instantly play....

New theory thought up today: file sizes of games required to install exceed what bog standard CD/DVD's are capable of holding and therefore you'd need blue ray discs to make them plug and play, probably just stuck with cheap discs and put the installation and run files on them and then that's why it stores on your console.

Could be balls but probably a way for them to make more monies than make it convenient for customers. Thumbs Down

Xbox 360 was the last console you could do that with. I have one if you want to swap? Smile

The theory was the PS3 had a slow blu-ray drive and that's why you had to install games... not sure about this gen' of consoles Thinking

Colleagues at work regularly buy games, they always moan that they buy the disc and on installation have to immediately download 50gig of updates. They seem to buy them when the game is first released and then complain for days that the update servers crack under load.

Seems a bit demented to release a game that needs updating on release day and they know the servers wont be able to cope.

Software developers have deadlines too. Getting a game out there and played by thousands at once is the very best
test their product can get and with updates they can fix what's broken after they have your money. It's a pretty savvy
business model really.

Sure they can fix stuff later, but there's a trend of getting unfinished stuff out of the door whether it's "Our users are beta testers" or "We need to fix this bug".

There's no point buying a game at launch anymore, wait a while for all the bugs to be fixed and get it a bit cheaper. At least with steam they have early access, so you get a discount for basically testing the game.

Didn't Microsoft and Sony want to get rid of the CD's but there was an uproar about it. Now the disk just seems like a way to validate the game before download.

As above, buy the game in alpha (or Beta usually for more) and laugh at the price on the official release day

Allegedly this was gonna be the gen' of consoles that killed off discs. As downloads normally cost more than buying a physical copy of the game, and for a lot of people it still takes a day to download that hasn't happened. Also what annoys me is I can't play a downloaded game if my internet's down, with a disc I can.

There was a lot of talk about DRM with this gen' of consoles as well, Microsoft weren't even going to allow second-hand games to be played originally, but then they completely backtracked and even enabled backwards compatibility (with the 360) Thumbs Up

What is this game where you reenact the role of one of the Bee Gees?
