I've broken a bike and sold the vast majority on Ebay over the past month or so. Of all the bits, about 1/4 of it has sold to a German bloke (Residential address in Germany on Ebay), who has had me post everything to a ParcelMotel in Northern Ireland. He has paid though, and no complaints so I have no reason to believe he isn't genuine.
One of the last things to go is the Frame, V5, and # Plate, and he has once again won that, and a few other bits.
Question is, how do I deal with the V5? Obviously he isnt picking it up to sign the new keeper bit, and technically it is not me personally that is exporting it...
Tempted to just fill in the "I am exporting this vehicle", bit, and send him the whole rest of the V5, as he will need it if he wants to re-register it at any point in Ger.
Any suggestions? |

I would do as you're proposing!
Fill in the permanent export part of the V5 and send it off, AFAIK that is the extent of your responsibilities, (assuming the frame is going outside the UK), and send the buyer the rest of the V5.
We've just permanently exported a car and a bike and that was the procedure we followed.
If you don't hear from the DVLA after sending the permanent export slip off, phone them and check there is an export marker on the vehicle!
It took around six weeks for my bike to disappear from the DVLA database! ____________________ "Everybody needs money, that's why they call it money!" |
