If there's one thing we're intolerant of... it's intolerance Smile

Kind of reminds me of that Oscar Wilde quote: If there's one thing I can't resist it's temptation.

I think Britain is generally a very tolerant nation, which is one reason it is so attractive to immigrants. However there is a delicate balance to be made, according to the Paradox of Tolerance
Quote:
The paradox of tolerance states that if a society is tolerant without limit, its ability to be tolerant is eventually seized or destroyed by the intolerant.

Val will say the 52% are intolerant and pull out "hate crime" data but there has always been a minority thuggish element picking on anyone they perceive as different on a Saturday night. Consider perhaps the most famous case of "Brexit hate" where a Polish man was killed by youths in Harlow.
Quote:
It emerged from the case that there was a racial element to the incident — although the racism was not aimed at Mr Jozwik. On the contrary, the court heard it was Mr Jozwik and his friends who made racist comments against the then 15-year-old and those he was with. As the defence counsel put it: ‘They made racist remarks to the youngsters, then invited violence from them, and they were considerably bigger and stronger than the young people.’

The tragic death of Mr Jozwik brings shame on Britain for conditions in town centres late at night. But what evidence of a link to Brexit? None at all. Drunkenness and violence have been a problem for decades.

"Brexit: What do you think will happen?"

Trump will start a war with Iran, BoJo will hide at Caribbean villa or a fridge, UK will bear the consequences.

Alternatively, BoJo will make a statement and leave the unhinged incompetent Trump to bear consequences alone. I am not holding my breath here.

The Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe situation might affect things. Then again, we do have Dominic "I know Kung Fu" Raab as FoSec Shocked

Why? In today's world you don't need to be in your office to be abreast of any developments.

I could run a shipping fleet from my laptop anywhere in the world with no special soft or hardware. I'm sure the Prime Minister has way more sophisticated means of communication and information available to him than the general bod on the street and is totally up to date on what is happening.

Oh im sure the fat psychopath is at it constantly wherever he parks his arse. That's not the point though. It fits his dilitante attitude that he cant be bothered being present in the country. If I got the job of PM i would just think "well thats me not going off to Tenerife for the next few years."

I know you righty-tighties are chuffed to bits Corbyn didn't win the election but does that mean for the next five years your all going to be making excuses for Johnson?

I'm not making excuses for him, I'm pointing out a salient fact.

But hey, you carry on feeling bitter because your left wing terrorist loving commie and his bunch of sycophant hangers on wasn't as popular as you think he should be.

Boris managed to get the best Tory result since Maggie; for that, my apologies.

In reciprocation, would you like to make some excuses for why Labour had the worst result since 1934?

How does that comment relate to my thinking it's bad that Johnson isn't present?

There's a whole thread devoted to Corbyn yoy know?

You haven't caught a dose of the mpd72's have you?

Just as a matter of kindly interest, would you describe yourself as a fat psychopath, or a thin one?

How fat or thin he is doesn't come into it as it's a well known and indisputable fact that Boozey is a parking psychopath. Razz

Well, I was just interested (but not that interested). Calling people psychopaths apropos of nothing is a bit queer. Attacking the person, not the policy, isn't that helpful, 'though I understand it might make one feel better Smile

I firmly believe Johnson is well into the high numbers on the Psychopath scale. As for policies, I dont think I can be sure Johnson believes in anything but will just trot out what he thinks will get a good reaction at the time.

I must admit to being near the top of my hight/weight scale. If we're going down a psycho rabbit hole, then this might be helpful https://psychcentral.com/quizzes/psychopathy-quiz/

I doubt any of us would get anywhere near the kind of score even a low ranking politician would get.

AFAIK one is either a cycle-path or not, I don't think it's a spectrum thing. Cycle-path tendencies would probably be better classified as sociopathy.

Anyhoo, sorry to disappoint but the whole House is full of nut jobs. Classic example of nurture > nature as without big lumps of wedge and an expensive education they'd just be numbers in Broadmoor.

The same place as all the other experts here.
It's just conversation dude, relax..

I do take a professional interest in such matters as my work has always involved working with people with what is euphemistically called "challenging behavior". So I probably have somewhat more than the lay-persons knowledge when it comes to personality disorders.

I certainly think politicians are likely far more aggressive than the normal and very effective at passivw aggressive tactics. If i found myself on a desert island with one I would watch my back. In fact I would assess whether they had any skills ir abilities useful to my survival and if they lacked anything substantially to my advantage I would preemptively deal with them. Laughing

Boris:

Quote:
"Hi. I am your new democratically elected leader. I've decided to make BCF life miserable. You won't have the right to ride bikes/work/live/study/retire or have permanent residence in the EU, I've stopped your EU colleagues joining your research and you doing any research in the EU, some of you already lost your jobs and they have been relocated to Paris and Frankfurt, thousands more will lose jobs in Honda, Nissan, AirBus and pretty much in any manufacturing company all over the UK

"Airbus pledges expansion in UK after Brexit" (Bloomberg)

"Airbus is committed to the U.K. and to working with the new government on an ambitious industrial strategy,” Faury (CEO) said late Wednesday at a company event in London. “We see great potential to improve and expand our operations in the U.K. this year.”
