Sorry to go back to an earlier post (I'm not Razz ):

I understand that argument. I am not sure however if the average voter (and I include us in this) knows which businesses back each Party, because we don't take the time to find out.

And perhaps we should, because political parties today are merely a front for those who really tell us how to behave - keep us in our place (or abandon us if we don't tow the line).

It used to be simple - a vote for Labour was a vote for Union power, whereas a vote for Conservatives was a vote for big industry and all that entails. Socialism versus neo-classical economics.

Except times have changed. Now, the field has been changed by globalisation. Whilst Labour may still be heavily influenced by the unions, they have already lost the battle, except they don't know it yet. If they come to power, they're in for a rude awakening.

Got to be careful here because I could go all Anarchist, which belies my position as a self-employed father of three with a mortgage and dog to support...

I voted leave - that deal is not leave.

As to a 'peoples vote', it's not a 'peoples vote', it's a remainers vote to try and overturn the last referendum, that's all.

And if we had one (which I suspect might well happen) what if it voted stay in? That.s one a piece. I will want a deciding vote after that. Best of three.

We shouldn't even be considering a second referendum.

Any vote now should be simply

- Shit deal
- No deal

Remain / Leave was done. It's depressing to think there is even a chance that could be overturned... 😐

How can that be in our best interests? The whole of Parliament bar the PM and Nicky Morgan spoke out against the 'shit deal' today, and other than a couple of the more outspoken Conservatives, I can't remember anybody saying 'no deal' would be a good thing for us.

Like somebody said previously, we could be forgiven for thinking that this has been orchestrated to ensure another vote on the principle of staying or leaving...

I seem to recall May saying no deal would be better than a bad deal (as well as we will definitely be staying out of the customs union and single market).

Now it seems she thinks a bad deal is better than no deal.

Well I'll say it now if it makes you feel better diggs?

No deal is better than shit deal. Anyone can see that.

Shit deal leaves us worse off than when we were "in".

It was a proper shit deal. I only stayed for 3 years the first time and 2 the second time. Then enough was enough! 1 year later and I'll very seriously consider writing a strongly worded anonymous letter to the local paper.

I like this thread, thank you. It gives me the opportunity to read views that differ from mine without the 'copy and paste' nonsense so evident in others.

Now, pass me that length of rope and stool...

That's what the Tories have ready for May, except she isn't going to be given a choice.

Sadly this makes a second referendum more likely (I didn't think it would happen) because the only way out for Parliament is a, "We've changed our minds," vote from the electorate (or at least those who bother to vote). A "Just get on with it!" Leave majority would be a classic British Middle Finger though. Laughing

I feel it's all but certain simply because the politicians have no idea what to do if they reject this deal (which they will) so the easy way is to give it back to the people and hope they get a remain vote.

How they are going to justify it though I have no idea as it goes against democracy at it's most basic.

But what ever the result of 'the peoples vote' Rolling Eyes is they will have a mandate of remain or no deal as no one is going to vote for Mays charade.

Gets all the charlatans off the hook.

If we were a democracy, there would be no need for a second referendum. But I worry that we're about to find out that a democracy is one thing we're not.

If Remain won a second referendum, I'd be looking forward to the third one though Smile
