"The annual turnover from fish for UK vessels in British waters is about €850m (£770m) compared with €650m by EU member states."

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/dec/20/latest-brexit-offer-selling-eu-fishing-communities-down-the-river-barnier-told

So with time, the UK fishing industry could more than double in value.

The EU's definition of fair: all the waters are nominally EU-controlled, we catch some fish and sell it to the French, the French catch some fish and sell to us. A bit of to-an-fro, very fair Rolling Eyes

Post No-Deal: all the waters are ours, we catch all the fish and the French either buy from us or they go without. Very unfair!

Yes, yes it is Twisted Evil

In the absence of a Scottish Navy their waters will be policed by the French EU.

the French said, perhaps slightly surprisingly, that they would stop hauliers rather than just passengers,
I'm sure Macron's concern is entirely Covid-related and nothing to do with mischievousness around Brexit. Confused

Brexit mullahs and Daily Heil will go balistic finding out Gibraltar is part of the EU now and UK citizens have border checks by the EU 😂👇

EU Frontex units take control of UK borders between Gibraltar and Spain to ensure that no border controls are needed for Llanitos and Spanish citizens, which means full passport controls for UK citizens arriving at Gibraltar Airport.

Schengen means Schengen.

BREXIT: Gibraltar tendrá frontera de pasajeros con el Reino Unido y no con España:

https://elpais.com/espana/2020-12-21/gibraltar-tendra-frontera-de-pasajeros-con-el-reino-unido-y-no-con-espana.html?ssm=TW_CC

Gibraltar voted 96% to remain in the EU, it's now going to detach itself from the UK and preserve its free movement within the Schengen area.

Analyse this.

As Gibraltar voted overwelmingly in favour of the EU and isn't part of the UK (it's an overseas dependancy like the falklands) what is new about this?

Bear in mind that our justification for no negotiations with the Argentinians are because the Falklanders voted overwhelmimgly to remain a britich dependency. As Gibraltar did the opposite (abrogate sovereignty to the EU) what justification could the UK use for refusing?

I like stamps on passports.

Not had one in years, got one once in Malta in the late 80s and one for the US in 96.

Technically I did get one when I went to Turkish Cyprus, but it was on a piece of paper. Something to do with if over countries saw the stamp, I couldn't go there.

I held 2 passports at one time because South Africa (apartheid version) insisted on stamping your passport and then, of course, no black run country would allow you in when they saw that stamp.

This was at the time when Shell was definitely not dealing with South Africa, definitely, no way, honestly. Whistle Laughing

If, as numerous people keep saying, fishing is such a small and unimportant thing, why is it such a big deal.

Also, where else, anywhere in the world, are fishing rights and trade deals on the same negotiating table?

Also ask Norway why they aren't in the EU.

If that is true I just hope we haven't given way just to placate the Irish and the Yanks.

I'll wait to see if it looks a good deal for UK or if the establishment has shat on the peoples choice yet again.

They voted against joining.

Also ask why Norway negotiates fish yearly, but for us to do so, would according to the eu be a disaster.

Sources in Belgium now saying that after one of the EU negotiators started humming “Silent Night”, all sides joined in. Barnier then suggested a game of football. Some negotiators now swapping chocolate and cigarettes. Top brass furious but It’s just too Christmassy to stop.
